Made the rustic apple tart tonight, and bought a chocolate spice coconut bar. Will report.

TamalesGyozaPizza dough - a staple (though I slightly prefer my own, it takes too long)Chicken sausageDried pitted Montmorency cherriesDark chocolate-covered cherriesPinachio cookiesCaramel cashew cookiesRoasted/salted almonds
Winewise, they have a couple different Primitivos that I have bought and am looking forward to trying.

i have used their pizza dough much but it's so bland no matter what you do to it :-/
― Fluffy Saint-Bernard (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 10 March 2017 19:07 (nine years ago)
this was mostly a fill-up run (i like to go to tj's after therapy because it's soothing and this week i was rewarded with 'a view to a kill' on the stereo when i got there); also i gave up chocolate for lent. i bought a bottle of wine, the fresh mozz cheese sticks, a new york strip, the heat and eat brussels, "handsome cut" french fries, haricots verts, blueberries, honey roasted peanuts, cheese crisps that are all cheese, hash browns (my favorite thing!!!), strawberry preserves, tahini, and chickpeas. also two clutches of red roses, which i combine in my mason jar vase.
― maura, Friday, 10 March 2017 21:40 (nine years ago)
i figured out how to make those hash browns so they're exactly like mcdonald's. it is the best
gosh

Really dig the European style yogurt, esp with the small frozen blueberries mixed in.
― JoeStork, Friday, 10 March 2017 21:55 (nine years ago)

chicken AND rice? get the fuck outta here
― musically, Monday, 20 March 2017 18:03 (nine years ago)
I mix either spinach or the "cruciferous crunch" bagged blend into anything I deem vegetable-deficient.
― weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Monday, 20 March 2017 19:59 (nine years ago)
Did Trader Joe's discontinue their all time goat mvp, crushed garlic in a jar? Last two times I've gone they've only had diced garlic which isn't nearly as good.
― musically, Friday, 14 April 2017 16:56 (nine years ago)
Answer seems to be: yes, they discontinued it.

Visit any Indian grocer. Great big jars of crushed garlic, crushed ginger, or both for much less than the fresh forms. It loses some pungency from the processing, but its easy enough to compensate.
― behavioral sink (Sanpaku), Friday, 14 April 2017 18:00 (nine years ago)
Christopher Ranch brand crushed garlic is the best and is sold in major US supermarkets. Dunno if TJ's is US garlic or Chinese (which is possible).
― sarahell, Friday, 14 April 2017 18:25 (nine years ago)
It was missing from ours for awhile, but eventually it returned, but in a different jar.
― Jeff, Friday, 14 April 2017 18:30 (nine years ago)
Luckily I still have some garlic left but I'll check out the supermarket brands when I run out. The new garlic tj's has is diced rather than crushed, imo it's not as flavorful.

The coconut cold brew coffee concentrate makes a nice iced coffee with some coconut milk and coconut water. Maybe serve it in a coconut.

The "refried" black beans (really just puréed) are bland, the soy chorizo too spicy and greasy by itself, but mix them (4 oz chorizo/can), and they make an excellent vegan taco filler.
― The Audacity of Taupe (Sanpaku), Wednesday, 5 July 2017 15:26 (eight years ago)
the soy chorizo is... too spicy?!?
