Dunno that's worth hating on, except on aesthetic grounds. Sure, it is sentimental af, but that sort of sentimentality provides comfort to many people who are grieving, so it gets a pass from me.

I'm not familiar with Derek Acorah, but self-styled mediums as a class are predators on the vulnerable and credulous. The Hallmark Greeting Card Co may have made a fortune on sloppy sentiment, but they only wanted to sell you a card and envelope for a couple of bucks, not manipulate your grief by selling you false hopes for thousands of dollars.
