Whoa, the synopsis for Mark Fisher's posthumous release sounds awesome:
What exactly are the Weird and the Eerie? In this new essay, Mark Fisher argues that some of the most haunting and anomalous fiction of the 20th century belongs to these two modes. The Weird and the Eerie are closely related but distinct modes, each possessing its own distinct properties. Both have often been associated with Horror, yet this emphasis overlooks the aching fascination that such texts can exercise. The Weird and the Eerie both fundamentally concern the outside and the unknown, which are not intrinsically horrifying, even if they are always unsettling. Perhaps a proper understanding of the human condition requires examination of liminal concepts such as the weird and the eerie. These two modes will be analysed with reference to the work of authors such as H. P. Lovecraft, H. G. Wells, M.R. James, Christopher Priest, Joan Lindsay, Nigel Kneale, Daphne Du Maurier, Alan Garner and Margaret Atwood, and films by Stanley Kubrick, Jonathan Glazer and Christoper Nolan.

haha i read it this weekend and i thought "kingfish would like this."
the christopher nolan bit is kinda forced and he doesn't do a great job differentiating the weird and eerie at times but overall worthwhile

Apparently new ep will be up tonight. Last week was different in two premium eps.
They sorta should up the show rate thanks to all the dosh they're taking in.

yeah they were trying way too hard with Tim, and he was being kind of an asshole... like when they got thru reading Ben Shapiro's book, like "ahahaha Tim isn't this terrible?" and Tim just sort of shrugged.

I was hoping they'd ask TH whether it was hard to do surreal comedy now that real life is so surreal. Maybe they'd have ask e or 4 times but I'm sure the answer would be interesting.

the thing is there *is* a kernel of interest there in terms of the futility of making fun of Trump, having to find new modes of comedy, etc but instead they...just made fun of Trump for an hour

Yeah, show's less than a year in, and even with the improvements, they still can get overwhelmed or over-awed at a guest. Sometimes this is okay, like with the Adam Curtis ep, and sometimes not.
