I hope so. The hair is still a nightmare.

"Obviously there are actors who take it too far, and that's a problem, but there are plenty who gain or lose weight to take on particular roles. Brad Pitt pumps a lot of iron so he can play Achilles etc."

This isn't about Robert DeNiro. This about a system which basically dictates that you can't weigh more than 105 and be in a film. And this isn't skinny. Some people are born skinny and have high metabolism. This is starvation + ridiculous amounts of exercise + plastic surgery. It's pretty sick.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:28 (twenty-one years ago)

People, people. We will never agree on Lindsey Lohan's ideal weight.

Lindsey Lohan's ideal weight = the shot in the bikini, maybe 5 pounds more. Close thread, everyone go home.

Alan Conceicao (Alan Conceicao), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:30 (twenty-one years ago)

How is this demand that women be heavier any less dictatorial?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Personally I find Ms Lohan's body weight less of an issue than the fact that Herbie is an old, unsafe model of Beetle.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

that's hollywood for you, tracer.

s1ocki (slutsky), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

did i ever mention on ilx that the vw bus my mom drove when i was a kid blew up?

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:35 (twenty-one years ago)

"How is this demand that women be heavier any less dictatorial?"

Oh yeah, that's totally just as bad except no one is doing it.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:36 (twenty-one years ago)

well, i am

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:39 (twenty-one years ago)

STRONGO'S DESIRES WILL TOPPLE HOLLYWOOD'S BODY IMAGE HEGEMONY!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Perhaps Ms Lohan negotiated with Hollywood that in exchange for her forced starvation the movie would feature an older Beetle with generous mudflaps.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:44 (twenty-one years ago)

All those in favor of watching Luna break Lindsay Lohan's will, raise your hand...

With puppies...

Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I find the notion that women should be round or curvy to be equally as arbitrary as anything that Hollywood supposedly "enforces."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever.

Nice dodge (Alex in SF), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

people! let us not forget what bought us here today. namely an anthropomorphic car film

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I love you, Herbie.

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

(also, follow where that picture is linked from, if you dare)

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I sense a lot of uncalled-for venom in the statements here about her being too thin.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

THE PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER TEAM??????

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh baby

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

it's not really that arbitrary, but whatever

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Why are you upset about people saying she's too thin? Who cares? I think she is, but I don't actually give a shit 'cause hey, her body, right? I just tend to want to force feed everyone a cheeseburger. Call it a character flaw if you must.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

Luna, I haven't eaten dinner yet...

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

C'mere...

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Frankly luna, I was a little put off by statements like: "I could break that bitch" and "She looks like fucking Skeletrix" among others.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

lighten up, dude

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

don't worry poor widdew Windsay, Spencer will save you from those mean Internets!

Shakey Mo Coolier, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Something many people forget in their railing at the 12-foot lizards who have enslaved Hollywood casting directors in their skinny hegemony is that the camera adds about 5-10 pounds.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Which it does.

Jimmy Mod, Sultan of Sexxitime (ModJ), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

sigh

strng hlkngtn, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

But I'm not saying them about you, and unless she's your sister, I fail to see how you could take them so personally. I don't know her, you don't either, and I've said much worse about better people.

Besides, she DOES look too thin... assuming that picture is her and is not photoshopped. She looks like a lollipop with legs. I find that unattractive. From the discussion on this thread, it ain't just me... but I digress.

I apologize if I offended you - I talk a lot of shit, it's true, but it's usually all in jest, and I wouldn't intentionally offend someone.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

the Skeletrix comment had me giggling. but wait, i must be considerate and touchy-feely unoffensive to every possible person on the planet! my bad

anyway, how bout that herbie?

()ops (()()ps), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

No no, you didn't offend me. I know it's all in fun, but there's this edge to it that I'm curious about.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Also Jess, sorry to ruin your thread.

Word. Chicks losing weight does not mean that they are anorexic.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh no, I really don't hate her or anything... I guess I just have issues with heroin chic being the standard of gorgeous because it fucks so many little girls (and grown women) up. It pisses me off.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:11 (twenty-one years ago)

even the "fat" stars in Hollywood are weight-obsessed anorexics.

grr

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Let me repeat: THE CAMERA ADDS 5-10 POUNDS. People who want to look a certain weight ON MOTION-PICTURE FILM must actually weigh 5-10 pounds less than that. Something to keep in mind.

xpost looks like I missed the hug while I was shouting.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

please explain this miracle of physics to me Tracer. Judging by what comes out of Hollywood its more like the camera SUBTRACTS 20 pounds.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 12 May 2005 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

god bless you, spencer
