Oh wow, I think I just found my new alias.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 18 July 2003 02:43 (twenty years ago) link

Or at least a new record-releasing identity. File under: hot and sweaty lounge-perv-funk

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 July 2003 02:48 (twenty years ago) link

I totally missed this thread the first time. I think this is my favorite one ever now.

No new converts allowed unless they contribute to an unravelling of the SuperHim condundrum.

I feel as if this woman knows all, but is not telling. Yet what part in the saga does she herself play, if any? If only mark s were here.

This thread has some of the funniest material ever on ILE, mostly thanks to Mark S.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 12 August 2004 19:07 (nineteen years ago) link

in the early GF1/MM1 phase (which note represent the SECOND actual mastermind historically: MM2 was the first, as seen only in poor ly reproduced pix)

this absolutely killed me

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:27 (nineteen years ago) link

the second actual mastermind historically!

s1ocki (slutsky), Friday, 13 August 2004 02:28 (nineteen years ago) link

OMG this thread is fantastic!

I love it when the MM packaging goes all Dr Who on our asses.

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 13 August 2004 03:24 (nineteen years ago) link

I once suggested to a couple of my friends that they go to a 'childhood memories' theme party as the MM box people. They declined and went as Monkey and a Grange Hill pupil instead. This thread is proof that my idea was better.

robster (robster), Friday, 13 August 2004 07:08 (nineteen years ago) link

The Mastermind ppl only look like the Mastermind ppl, to all but the most studious observers at least, if they maintain their pose behind a table with Mastermind on it....and doing this might well spoil yr enjoyment of the party, speshly if there was someone on the other side of the room you really fancied....

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 13 August 2004 08:02 (nineteen years ago) link

....and it would be rather reliant on a dedicated host bringing you drinks all evening....

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 13 August 2004 08:02 (nineteen years ago) link

if there was someone on the other side of the room you really fancied....

You could show them how brainy you are by challenging them to a game of MasterMind!

robster (robster), Friday, 13 August 2004 08:08 (nineteen years ago) link

You could construct some sort of projecting platform on strings like a frozen-albatross lady at the cinema, but with a mirrored surface and a mini mastermind set in place. Then you could go about your business, only remembering to maintain the relative positions of the MM and GF at all times. Easy.

Sadly my Travel Mastermind has no lady and gent on it, just a picture of the game :(

OH MY GOD!!!

Distinguished-looking Bill Woodward was then the owner of a chain of hairdressing salons and young Hong Kong born Cecilia Fung was studying for a computer science degree at the University of Leicester.

lies!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 00:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Thus the faces of Bill and Cecilia – her married name is Masters – have become part of many households.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 00:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Okay, that officially blows my goddamn mind.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 6 April 2005 00:21 (nineteen years ago) link

MASTERMIND!! I am excited about this thread. The Polish mini-mastermind cover is awesome. We had the original and a mini one but I'm pretty sure it didn't have those people it.

I remember loving this game, but I couldn't tell you a thing about how it's played.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 13 February 2006 23:57 (eighteen years ago) link

the polish couple, far-flung minions at best, exploited the lack of media openness behind the iron curtain as then was to pose as MM3 and GFwhatever (though -- as most of the world at that time -- they actually assumed MM2 to be MM1): for a short while they diverted much of the local operation's proceeds into their own deep denim pockets

the matriarch GF1 dispatched the ever-efficient GF2 to sort matters out when she learnt of the clumsy goings-on

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 00:05 (eighteen years ago) link

ok this is how i remember the missing (alba or anyone else to confirm plz)

Mastermind: The Next Generation = two kids but no adults?

The Eight = includes Super-Sonic (reposted CB just now); Grand Mastermind (ditto); Senha (but not the version I just reposted: features a hand and someone in a mask?); a rodin's thinker issue; and four others? -- i kinda assume replications of the classic format) (i don't think mine at 11.53 and cb's at 11.57 were included in the eight)

but what was "another piece in the puzzle" and who was the "woman who knows all" (posted by n and alba respectively)?

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 00:30 (eighteen years ago) link

these are some of the eight i think: [images moved up-thread by obsessive moderestorator]

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 00:39 (eighteen years ago) link

i will piece these back together tomorrow and delete repeats

mark s (mark s), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 00:58 (eighteen years ago) link

I was going to say. It's my fault cause I posted the images on my now defunct ISP space. I think I still have the files on my HD to slot into place on, say, my Flickr account, which should be pretty permanent. I WILL EMAIL YOU.
