don't really know how to feel about his attempt to brazen this out and claim he posted the video on purpose

soref, Sunday, 1 January 2017 04:38 (nine years ago)

it is brazy

6 god none the richer (m bison), Sunday, 1 January 2017 04:41 (nine years ago)

everyone's missing the point w/ joshtpm... that is obv the sort of tastefully banal vid someone would intentionally select to attempt a risque take, but in order to be able to make that informed selection at all he has outed himself as the wild degenerate porn head

Lindy West: I’ve left Twitter. It is unusable for anyone but trolls, robots and dictators

Lauren Schumer Donor (Phil D.), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 19:53 (nine years ago)

can someone explain the phenom of people changing their first name to "punished" -- like "Joe Smith" becomes "<Punished> Smith".

Is this a reference to something that i'm missing? it must be.

the klosterman weekend (s.clover), Tuesday, 3 January 2017 20:24 (nine years ago)

those r ppl who are punished

I'm trying to catch up on the Chapo podcasts and... they're so long

After thinking about it for an extremely long time I have decided JoshTPM is not a kink double agent. He is a genuinely boring "tasteful pornography" enthusiast who also enjoys his moderate amounts of wine and liquor. There is no top-secret WAM+pegging cache. He's just a hard working Ph. D. with his own small business. He loves him some Bob Dylan. He's boring as fuck!

The beaver is not the bad guy (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 4 January 2017 01:03 (nine years ago)

pretending he posted on purpose instead of deleting it is pretty funny

lag∞n, Wednesday, 4 January 2017 01:22 (nine years ago)

he never apologized, blamed readership for being prudes, tweeted thru it, and now nobody cares. tough!

twitter - [journos of any kind] = perfect twitter

rip van wanko, Friday, 6 January 2017 20:57 (nine years ago)

eh journalists are pretty central to my twitter experience. if you just care about your buddies and weird twitter i don't see why tumblr can't fulfill that need

k3vin k., Friday, 6 January 2017 21:09 (nine years ago)

bc they're not on tumblr

ogmor, Friday, 6 January 2017 22:41 (nine years ago)

no one is on tumblr

who is extremely unqualified to review this pop album (BradNelson), Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:05 (nine years ago)

tumblr was cool kind of sad to see it die, though there are still some good ones

marcos, Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:07 (nine years ago)

Apart from the occasional fix of arty smut tumblr never served any purpose for me. Not been on tumblr for years. It doesn't exist anymore in my world and I have no idea what the hell, if anything, is going on there these days.

Twitter without journos though: where's the fun in that?

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:11 (nine years ago)

journos on twitter is actually how you get the arty smut fix these days

Clay, Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:24 (nine years ago)

That is not entirely wrong :)

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:27 (nine years ago)

they did say a close relationship

the klosterman weekend (s.clover), Saturday, 7 January 2017 00:40 (nine years ago)

I think it sucks that Twitter has turned out to be a real boon for, more than anyone else, a coterie swho already write for a living, already has a venue for its work, already has a following . Of ourse I can, and have, curated my feed to exclude all but a few, but the Big Thing on Twitter will always center around a journalistic figure and here new piece/latest beef etc. I like to imagine a Twitter where these already prominent figures (good as many may be) were not allowed to step in and take over.

rip van wanko, Saturday, 7 January 2017 09:50 (nine years ago)

ack, sorry for errors, it's late

rip van wanko, Saturday, 7 January 2017 09:52 (nine years ago)

I really dislike this new thing (new to me, anyhow) of seeing tweets liked by people I follow on my timeline. Is there a way to turn it off?

heaven parker (anagram), Saturday, 7 January 2017 11:37 (nine years ago)

Wow, not heard of that before, that would annoy the shit out of me. Idk I use tweetbot, I want Twitter to a linear flow. The Twitter desktop and app are so annoying ever since they introduced the 'while you were away' stuff. It breaks the flow. (This is not helpful for you anagram, soz)

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 7 January 2017 11:46 (nine years ago)

i find not using twitter eliminates this minor annoyance associated with twitter

loudmouth darraghmac ween (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 January 2017 13:25 (nine years ago)

do you watch television

increasingly bonkers (rushomancy), Saturday, 7 January 2017 13:49 (nine years ago)

Mark Hamill has started reading Trump quotes in the voice of Joker, on Twitter

flopson, Monday, 9 January 2017 02:02 (nine years ago)

no one was on twitter yet in '08

ciderpress, Monday, 9 January 2017 02:07 (nine years ago)

Josh Malina is trolling like a weird Twitter pro today, starting here: https://twitter.com/JoshMalina/status/818475776542547968

Lauren Schumer Donor (Phil D.), Monday, 9 January 2017 16:56 (nine years ago)

xp yeah my account says it joined sept 08, but going through my feed and clicking on everyone now, i can't even find people who joined earlier than me so i have no clue who i was following back then.

ciderpress, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:05 (nine years ago)

i think maybe i originally signed up just to follow dril

ciderpress, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:08 (nine years ago)

joined november 2006, it was mostly just screwing around. I remember using it like a weird opt-in/out group text at times (it could text you updates if you had that turned on for particular friends)

I remember turning on notifications on the weekend or when a handful of friends were at the same music festival and we'd post things like "heading out to the bar at 8" or "going to go to the north stage at 3pm" as kind of a general meet-up thing

just reading opinions and interacting didn't become a thing until after most people had modern phones

some friends had t-mobile sidekick phones, remember those? lol

mh 😏, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:14 (nine years ago)

legendary phone

lag∞n, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:15 (nine years ago)

i held out on social media entirely until 2010, then i went in...

lag∞n, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:15 (nine years ago)

i'm new to twitter, joined in 2015. facebook though i've been on since 2004 :/

marcos, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:20 (nine years ago)

that's weird. thirteen years of my life have been documented there?

marcos, Monday, 9 January 2017 17:21 (nine years ago)

yeah same for me but i never really posted on facebook much ever

ilx is probably the internet place where the past decade of my life is most thoroughly documented
