I've been away, yeah, it's been a bit busy spring for me. Work's been stressful, and I'm facing some pretty major personal life rearrangements. My Costa Rican girlfriend was visiting me in March, and at the moment we're planning of her moving here. (Previously, we did consider the option of me moving there, but with Trump in power and CR being fairly dependent on US investments, employment opportunities there don't look very good + my Spanish is crappy.) But in order for her to get a residence permit in Finland, we need to be married. So we're gonna tie the knot in the summer when I travel to Costa Rica. Which should be great, and it is, but all the paperwork and bureaucracy involved in international marriage and immigration of a non-EU citizen to here is a bit stressing.

It is, and I'm happy that it's happening! I'm not a big believer in marriage as an institution, and TBH never expected to jump through that hoop myself, but it's pretty much the only option we have to make sure she gets to stay here. (The other option would be if we had kids together, so...) I guess you should anything for love, even get married, right?

That's OK. Everything that's real about a marriage is just you and your spouse, figuring stuff out together. The institutional part can safely be ignored as long as you put your efforts into the getting along and helping each other part.
