Isn't there an Eddie Izzard bit about that?

When someone cannot believe you haven't seen a movie. How much media can one consume?

Apparently, Leonard Cohen. Not in a "please stop talking about this thing that bores/angers me" way, but I realize he's was a huge blind spot in my musical knowledge for whatever reason. I knew Everybody Knows and Hallelujah but as covers; when I hear his name I get "Pennyroyal Tea" stuck in my head more than anything actually related to him.

joygoat, Friday, 11 November 2016 17:17 (nine years ago)

his stuff was great. you should listen to it. start with the old stuff. Songs of Leonard Cohen. Songs From A Room. Songs Of Love And Hate. New Skin For The Old Ceremony.

scott seward, Friday, 11 November 2016 17:23 (nine years ago)

if u like Nirvana u will love Cohen

AdamVania (Adam Bruneau), Friday, 11 November 2016 17:32 (nine years ago)

I don't know if this is the week to start listening to Leonard Cohen though.

The existential crisis of alternative comix artists who desperately want to be genuinely unselfconsciously eccentric yet cannot resist huge doses of irony and selfawareness that winks at the audience and says "how kooky and eccentric!"
Although I am curious about how they dealt with the backlash on "hipsters" and twee indie aesthetics because I wasn't around to see that phase in full swing.

Playboy magazine from the 80s onward

Porn where the narrative ends with a blowjob and no touching of the rest of the body. What kind of asshole only wants a blowjob and nothing else?

Porn with car drivers getting blowjobs while driving, even worse if they're talking on a phone and looking smug and selfcongratulatory about it

Porn with nauseating cultural references

Japanese porn where the male protagonist is a screaming nervous wreck

Yawnsome pinup humour

Cliched pinup art. How can anyone stay interested in a whole book of Gil Elvgren?

Horror fans attempts to make Lucio Fulci films seem like masterpieces rather than generally boring films with a few really good scenes.

Unfortunately it seems Sofia Boutella won't be in a film I care about any time soon. I hope that changes.

I'm really tired, my tact isn't in full force and I hope none of this is too mean

mookieproof, Saturday, 12 November 2016 03:30 (nine years ago)

I was mostly trying to think of things that bored the shit out of me and made me feel like "please just take it away, I'm so tired and can't take it anymore".
But somehow being tired right now made me think it was "things you can't be bothered with" despite my familiarity with this thread.

I haven't seen any Sofia Boutella films though.

Japanese porn where the male protagonist is a screaming nervous wreck

dude this sounds dope

goole, Monday, 14 November 2016 17:07 (nine years ago)

it's really quite simple. i don't care about the kardashians. never had any interest in their t.v. show or twitter or controversies or hijinx. don't even know all their names. don't dislike them. don't hate them. don't think about them at all unless i see a picture of one of them on the internet.

see, that's how this thread works.

scott seward, Monday, 14 November 2016 18:29 (nine years ago)

dude this sounds dope

― goole, Monday, 14 November 2016 17:07

Screaming might be an exaggeration but I find it really annoying. You get it in anime a bit too often, a generic guy freaking out or whimpering around hot girls.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Monday, 14 November 2016 18:55 (nine years ago)

But, like, is the neverending presence and discussion of Japanese porn where the male protagonist is a screaming nervous wreck causing you frustration? Did I miss Japanese porn where the male POLLtagonist is a screaming nervous wreck, 204 new answers?

JoeStork, Monday, 14 November 2016 19:01 (nine years ago)

Character in Sion Sono's Love And Peace was kind of like this but I quite liked the film.

Panel shows stuffed full of comedians who've been told it'll be great for their careers by their agents.

The Doug Walters of Crime (Tom D.), Tuesday, 15 November 2016 19:24 (nine years ago)

Are you saying you don't like comedy panel shows or you just want to see them full of comedians doing it for the love of the comedy panel show?

I understood Tom to be saying he didn't care about them. (see thread title for details)

a little too mature to be cute (Aimless), Tuesday, 15 November 2016 19:58 (nine years ago)

None of us are fooling anyone, we all care too much about all this stuff. We're not talking about the dress code of offices we'll never go to, Lembit Opik's taste in shoe laces or the remastering of old soap operas.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 15 November 2016 20:36 (nine years ago)

just don't care = tired of hearing about

now lets move on
