i missed the deadline on the gif it up contest this year. i think i entered something terrible for it last year. the archive they're trying to promote is organized in the least helpful way to someone trying to comb through it. or at least it was last year.

ideally they'd all start up at the same time, in sync, and then gradually phase with each other only to realign...a long time in the future. unfortunately browsers don't load a set of 9 gifs simultaneously, so they won't start out in sync in the first place. it's odd though, sometimes browsers will load up a set of 2 or 3, or even 4 or 5 gifs and start them at the same exact moment, while loading up the remaining gifs and starting them a bit later. also, sometimes if you load up all 9 of the images (so they're in your cache) and then hit refresh, then the refreshed page will start them all up at the same instant. pretty cool

So let me get this straight - every 16 minutes someone dies of suicide and every 17 minutes someone is left to make sense of it.

That means

every 32 minutes two people have died of suicide and every 34 minutes, there are two people left to make sense of it
every 48 minutes three people have died of suicide and every 51 minutes, there are three people left to make sense of it
every 64 minutes four people have died of suicide and every 68 minutes, there are four people left to make sense of it
every 80 minutes five people have died of suicide and every 85 minutes, there are five people left to make sense of it
every 96 minutes six people have died of suicide and every 102 minutes, there are six people left to make sense of it
every 112 minutes seven people have died of suicide and every 119 minutes, there seven two people left to make sense of it
every 128 minutes eight people have died of suicide and every 136 minutes, there are eight people left to make sense of it
every 144 minutes nine people have died of suicide and every 153 minutes, there are nine people left to make sense of it
every 160 minutes ten people have died of suicide and every 170 minutes, there are ten people left to make sense of it

So by the time the day concludes at 1,440 minutes, we've got 90 people who have died of suicide, but only 84 people who are left to make sense of it. That means six people die of suicide every day with no one left behind to give a fuck.

I dunno, seems like a weird factoid to promote. Bet I know why those half-dozen people got to that point in the first place!

Harp Ralph Phases needs to be a FULL CYCLE.
