thought this was a pretty awful episode again but much better than the miranda episode. nadir for me was the robot sketch, which was just excruciating. chonk definitely the highlight of the show, and weekend update wasn't too bad - not a huge fan of jost and che in general.

why do i keep watching this show? haha.

i liked the robot sketch. I liked the hamster sketch at the end too.

I didn't laugh out loud much but I really did love that bizarre clusterfuck of a sketch, had it aired later it'd be an all-time 5-to-1 classic

Just watched Chonk, and it's funny, but if that was the highlight...

It was. But agree with Will that the limo sketch should've been later, it would've capitalized on that weirdo energy they get around that time. Sometimes.

thehamster sketch reminded me of early SNL; where it wasn't 'funny' so much as, well, here's a concept: what if who's afraid of virgina woolfe was played by hamsters? Ok, let's build a whole bunch of props and a set to support this dumb idea.

hamster sketch was really well done i thought. only highlight of the show for me. acting really sold it.

The sink was pretty good as well. And the short film - not so much the sketch, though Vanessa Bayer was good, but the short film itself. This season has been pretty weird at times. Shame about the live sketches, they're mostly rubbish, but a lot of good stuff around the margins.

i hadn't seen that character. it was funny. she is crushworthy, though I like cecily strong more in that department. and I'd be happy if Nasim Pedrad came back.

I think the child-actor character started like her first season on the show. Totally worth searching that sketch out.

David S. Pumpkins felt like an attempt to re-Reynolds. Can't be done.

hanks is a great host imo

I wish I could find the "I stubbed my toe" bit Hanks did in place of a monologue once. It had Abraham Lincoln.

Kevin Roberts is my fav and I use "Can a bitch get a doughnut?" in conversation more than anyone would think possible.

black jeopardy is always good

the final sketch was good again this week too. feel like this has been a really strong season? note I have barely watched this show over the past 10 years.

In general, this cast kills it even when the material isn't that strong.

the veteran new york stand up comedy guy on the news always kills me, and i loved hanks as a guest on it

Love Bruce Chandling. My wife HATES Bruce Chandling.

Bruce Chandling was cut for time, but is on youtube. I normally don't like him, but found Mooney quite moving after Hanks came on.

it's a variant of the neil hamburger thing - the hacky comic juxtaposed w pathos. The bit's not as aggro as Hamburger but Mooney does it v well imo

didn't see the most recent bruce chandling but i often feel that it goes over really poorly with the studio audience which makes it come over kind of badly, though i personally find it funny

The Black Jeopardy was pretty good and I love Keenan.

But I hated his reaction lines. "YES! WE ALL KNOW A GUY LIKE THAT! THERE'S ONE IN EVERY NEIGHBORHOOD!"

I mean, I got the joke the first time.

This sketch is so pitch perfect it almost hurts.

people on facebook from my hometown were saying this as well, but they were all white, and my hometown has less than 100 black people in it, so it just feels weird to make that comment, unless you're/we're talking about Tom Hanks' trump hat dude, though there's a bunch of them in my hometown.

Love Bruce. As mentioned just above it was cut for time. Will have to watch it. There's two other Bruce bits cut for time in the past that are great, online.
