i do indeed recognize the irony. (but shush, as far as anyone knows i'm both diligent and efficient)

i just don't like to start something if i can't finish it and having just made it too the end of a task anything I start now would take me longer than i have left in the day to complete.

Today work has consisted of making a 3rd cup of coffee, taking a shower at 10:30 and putting my feet up on my desk. Exhausting.

A few last little things on my end but otherwise I'm easing out gently. As it should be. My final hour at the desk will be a total snooze.

spent today playing poker with guy who's retiring after 40 years service. he cleaned me the fuck out, thirty bucks i won't see again. he twinkled the whole time, it was a pleasure. lunch after that, then we had a raffle from which everyone in office got at least three items (i got a bottle of german clear strong drink, will report later, a hip flask that's hellah cool and a box of sweets). in at ten, home at three.

It's not bad. Also not bad is the fact that no-one here seems to be interested in what work I'm doing, or if i'm doing any at all. They've introduced performance-based bonuses to my package but they're not as motivating as one might expect. I start looking for a new job tomorrow now.

The one I'm doing? It's internet marketing, of a kind. I've learned quite a lot and gained some valuable SEO experience but it was never the ideal job and when I took it 6 months ago I was in no position to be choosy - debts to sort out, rent to pay and no other offers on the table. I don't have those hanging over me anymore.

I've been here six months, which seems to be just about long enough, and the whole thing is seriously grating at this point. The commute is too long and too expensive, the work is beyond tedious and not as well paid as an equivalent position nearer to home, my colleagues, although not bad people, drive me round the bend on a daily basis.

I'm gonna contact the company that very nearly employed me before but decided to go for someone with more web 2.0 experience - which I now have - before I start properly shopping around.

I know work is work and I shouldn't be so moany but I'm not looking for a dream job - just a marginal improvement.

only 40 minutes left. SAVE ME!
