here is your new iPhone, we pre-bricked it for you. it is an unusable, unrestorable lump.

jason snell is former macuser editor now writes an electronic publication at sixcolors.org or something. those prices are typical Apple adapter tiers for "necessary because we yanked a vital port" and "why are you still using this port you dicks?"

stet, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 15:33 (nine years ago)

the ethernet adapter is $29, kind of lines up w/theory

btw if you're stuck in a place where you have to use a wired connection and are a masochist, the newer "camera connection kit" (pretty bullshit they still sell it as this) lets you run powered usb devices connected to an iPad, namely the usb ethernet adapter

I'm rather stoked about a 256GB offering, in piano black or otherwise.

Lee626, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 16:12 (nine years ago)

Legit excited about mario

stet, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:10 (nine years ago)

set price, hero.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:15 (nine years ago)

jesus can you imagine how bad real time collaboration in pages is going to be.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:21 (nine years ago)

impossibly bad software product problem even when offline, of the kind apple has demonstrated no aptitude for in the past 10 years + you also need to understand the internet

lol

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:23 (nine years ago)

the apple twitter account has been tweeting (and deleting) a bunch of details about the new iphone

龜, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:24 (nine years ago)

lol yes, and amazon launched the iphone 7 store

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:26 (nine years ago)

lol they probably have it scripted to tweet details as they're unveiled and someone hit the button early

wonder if they'll go back to having a dormant account after botching twitter

Yeah that was the opposite of enticing.

aaaaaaaauuuuuuuuu (melting robot) (WilliamC), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:28 (nine years ago)

to be good it needs them to reacquire a skill they lost ~10 years ago, plus learn a new skill they have failed to acquire despite 10 years of trying. it's going to suuuuuuuuuuuck.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:29 (nine years ago)

This seems to be deliberate - Verge had the story too. Seems to be embargoed briefings timed for during keynote for first time xp

stet, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:29 (nine years ago)

After flipping my shit after first hearing it I'm finally coming around to the no headphone jack thing. only thing that is weird to me is 'earbuds' will now just look like you're wearing ear plugs and you'll have to use both hands and stick your fingers deep into your ear to take them off. seems nasty lol. also not putting them in the box with the phone is such a ballsy risk to take on top of what's already a kinda crazy idea

flopson, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:34 (nine years ago)

They've deleted the tweets; it was a fuckup

stet, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:37 (nine years ago)

they can sell apple watch to all those people who couldn't get their hands on that bluetooth pokemon band

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:37 (nine years ago)

I think I may not pre-order and sit on the decision a bit. Not loving this concept.

no noticeable effect in either direction on the stock price, fwiw, probably bc not many surprises.

||||||||, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:47 (nine years ago)

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:47 (nine years ago)

||||||||, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:48 (nine years ago)

that thing about here's how to make your nature hike more fidgety and anxiety-riddled was so offputting

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:49 (nine years ago)

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:50 (nine years ago)

||||||||, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:50 (nine years ago)

Spottie, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:55 (nine years ago)

apple watch is dumb and awful

marcos, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:59 (nine years ago)

ya it seems bad

flopson, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 17:59 (nine years ago)

idk nothing apple builds makes me feel disgust or enthusiasm anymore

everything seems fine, if you want that kind of product, the apple one's fine

this video seems pretty

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:01 (nine years ago)

ok maybe the weird off-center charging things where they show the pencil sticking out of the end of an ipad or that dumb mouse with the charging port in the middle of the bottom. those are ridiculous

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:02 (nine years ago)

what is the bluetooth solution for avoiding weirdo interaction thru visible earphone cables

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:04 (nine years ago)

one apple thing i've never cared for is the ipad -- but i totally don't get tablets at all

F♯ A♯ (∞), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:06 (nine years ago)

r|t|c, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:08 (nine years ago)

yeah, noticed that after I posted. guess my friend has one, I bet it's... fine

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:10 (nine years ago)

We've had three different iPads in my house and I pretty much never use them. There is virtually no task that doesn't make more sense to do either on my phone or on my laptop.

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:17 (nine years ago)

spotify is best on an ipad imo

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:18 (nine years ago)

We occasionally have K do "educational apps" on the iPad but I fucking hate them and feel like they actually make her lazier.

the last famous person you were surprised to discover was actually (man alive), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:18 (nine years ago)

Shit this camera on the plus looks magic. Sorry headphones rip

stet, Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:19 (nine years ago)

was kind of expecting a lytro-style refocus thing but maybe that's patent encumbered

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 7 September 2016 18:19 (nine years ago)

we used to have a photographer at work and he would constantly say how photographers will just use smartphones to shoot, because lens, app capabilities, and price make more sense

it does look pretty

xp
