october's my fav too. i'd "normally" be a winter-is-better-than-summer person but winter here is unspeakably awful because the air is a trapped layer of synthetically coated car exhaust that makes everyone sicker than they care to admit for three months.

until the next, delayed, glaciation (map), Sunday, 4 September 2016 03:06 (nine years ago)

when the air is clear and cold though, just after a storm, and it's night time and no one is outside, i'll take that over any summer evening with the possible exception of late spring when lilacs are blooming.

September is awesome. This is the time of year when people trying to get you to leave the house and go into the dumb outside slowly becomes less of a thing. Bring on the hibernation!

Monday was my first pants day since I don't know when! Yesterday too! Such a pleasure.

I knew it was going to hit 90 today but I defiantly wore pants anyway, hell yes it's September

(I do want to take a moment to appreciate my job tolerating ppl wearing shorts during summer though)

mookieproof, Sunday, 1 September 2024 04:13 (one year ago)

Looks like we might get an autumn in the South East of England this year, instead of going straight from hot weather to cold/windy/raining like the last few years.

you gotta roll with the pączki to get to what's real (snoball), Sunday, 1 September 2024 08:53 (one year ago)

I'm looking forward to seeing autumn coloured leaves on the ground, instead of the leaves just staying on the trees for most of the winter.

at the risk of jinxing it: this has been a remarkably lovely september, weather-wise, in NYC

mookieproof, Tuesday, 17 September 2024 05:40 (one year ago)

A bit warm here but much preferable to the miserable pissy rain we've had over the last decade plus.

^^ otm, with near 90s forecast for the rest of the week and beyond

afraid this will be another time where we seem to go from 80s average temps to 40s average temps with hardly any time in that sweet spot between!

(•̪●) (carne asada), Saturday, 13 September 2025 13:19 (eight months ago)

In Brooklyn at the moment, and it's been shifting between shorts and pants temps. Too hot, too cold, too hot, etc. Probably because climate control settings are confused, too.

Josh in Chicago, Saturday, 13 September 2025 14:03 (eight months ago)

HOT in Oakland right now

Andy the Grasshopper, Tuesday, 16 September 2025 00:10 (eight months ago)

still in the mid-90s here, but we got a temporary humidity drop over the weekend and I'm sitting in the afternoon quiet after work and I can feel autumn like silver threads in the sunlight, cicadas are making a racket to cover up the sudden absence of summer, no more prop planes macerating thick air, a vague sense that homework is piling up, still hot enough to swim but the mouth is craving dark beer, red brown and orange ribbons are being drawn tight, delicious
