Just put some monkeys in a room with the ingredients (a la 'the chimps tea party') and see what they come up with.

this article is great: http://www.eater.com/2016/7/13/12160720/fancy-food-show-summer-2016

my favorite takeaways: the concept of "dessert hummus," and this paragraph:

The charitable branding of Doctor Pickle, on the other hand, remains beyond my understanding. CEO Harold Pitts is too muscular for his white coat; with his gelled grey hair, he looks like a late-career porn star doing a hospital scene. "Hey little boy," he calls to me, "Try my pickle!" I ask Pitts about the sign on his display that promises a share of the proceeds for child victims of 9/11. "We got into quite a pickle on 9/11," he says. Later I find out that Pitts was a fireman and first-responder at the towers before he turned to pickling full-time. His "Pickle with a Purpose" endeavor aims to provide everyone who experienced childhood trauma on 9/11 with access to transcendental meditation. The pickles are pretty good.

I remember a long road trip with my brother where we put off lots of places to stop to find a wimpy. It was not as good as we remembered. When/where we were kids it was the place for kids parties.

Is that what used to be called the Big Bender Burger?

There is a dedicated Wimpy thread!

Yes it has pickles and chicken...but...it doesn't have mild cheese... (stevie), Monday, 15 August 2016 08:56 (nine years ago)

The walking hot dog, a twist on the walking taco, was well-reviewed by a local chef

mh, Thursday, 18 August 2016 00:47 (nine years ago)

j., Thursday, 18 August 2016 02:22 (nine years ago)

Dammit, why didn't I think of that.

pplains, Wednesday, 5 October 2016 16:38 (nine years ago)

I've never actually eaten at a sushi burrito place, so this will be the first time. I mean, it's just a giant maki that's not cut up, right?

Jeff, Wednesday, 5 October 2016 17:28 (nine years ago)

that's my impression!

dr. mercurio arboria (mh 😏), Wednesday, 5 October 2016 17:29 (nine years ago)

Roberto Spiralli, Wednesday, 5 October 2016 17:42 (nine years ago)

I had a sushi burrito here: https://eatburedo.com and I didn't think it was that great

los blue jeans, Thursday, 6 October 2016 02:07 (nine years ago)

los blue jeans, Thursday, 6 October 2016 22:38 (nine years ago)

brimstead, Thursday, 6 October 2016 23:37 (nine years ago)

otoh i would eat the hell out of a "giant maki that's not cut up", GIS results making me hungry

http://www.businessinsider.com/mcdonalds-franchisees-say-discounting-is-killing-them-2016-10

One franchisee had a creative suggestion for McDonald's corporate office: spice up the fries.

"Do something incredible with our fries," the franchisee wrote. "Like add a sauce: cheese, garlic... something to energize our incredible fries."

this poor franchisee just isn't being listened to

Maybe make your burgers look and taste like something other than reconstituted meat patties left over from WWII

Lawsonomy Domine (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Friday, 28 October 2016 00:35 (nine years ago)

really want to try arbys venison

, Friday, 28 October 2016 00:37 (nine years ago)

the pork belly sandwich is no longre available http://ww.arbys.com/our-menu/limited-time-offers

, Friday, 28 October 2016 00:42 (nine years ago)

sooo

the closest Arby's to work seems to have actual intellectually disabled people staffing positions

this has two effects:
Training is obviously very thorough and they know the correct way to address a lot of situations
There is some sort of agreement in place to make sure everything works correctly, possibly with a staffing agency

So uhh this Arby's is kind of awkward to hang out in if you're eating during off hours but it is the most competent Arby's I have been in. They know what they are doing, the drive thru is prioritized but the staff is on it. It is a good Arby's. But the food is still ehhh
