I remember one of the funnest nights I had in high school was me & my buddies reading some Archie comics out loud to each other, in similar panel-by-panel breakdown, with each person reading a specific character's dialogue bubbles.

"The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie's hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books," Archie Comics honcho Jon Goldwater said in announcing the news.

In an interview , Parent said that the comic is striving for more diversity and that the new character, a "burgeoning journalist" named Kevin Keller, reportedly will appear in Veronica Comics (#202) in September, in an issue titled "Isn't It Bromantic?" (To see character art of Kevin, you can check the blog "Robot 6.")

"Veronica's got the hots for this guy and can't understand why he's not interested in her ... and, uh, he's gay," Parent says in the interview.

The operative word here is "openly". Click on the link for an article from last August with a cartoon of Veronica, Archie, and Betty, three straws, and a malt. (This image will appear on a postage stamp in July.) Now notice that Betty, with hearts over her head, is clearly looking at Veronica and not at Archie.

I think you're dreaming, GordonCash--Betty's eyes are clearly on Archie. Try Betty's pose yourself--you won't be looking in Veronica's direction, cute as she is.

What Simpsons edisode has the Archie gang throwing Homer out of the Jalopy and saying "Stay out of Riverdale!"? Anyway, I just remember in the commentary them saying that they didn't license that at all.

A late December release will depict President Obama and Sarah Palin sharing a milkshake at Pop Tate's soda shop.

it actually is rather amazing that "Archie" has yet to receive the live action, blockbuster film treatment yet. only a matter of time i'm sure.
