Three Cornered Pitney

Sentient animated cat gif (kingfish), Wednesday, 27 July 2016 19:46 (nine years ago)

I remember seeing that in MAD as a kid!

Tuomas, Thursday, 28 July 2016 07:03 (nine years ago)

That image with the cat in particular was burned in memory.

Tuomas, Thursday, 28 July 2016 07:03 (nine years ago)

It looks so annoyed!

One of the better of the latter-day airbrush school, I think.

Lloyd Bridges must've built the last 20 years of his career on playing the befuddled officer/straight man in all these movies

Tom Watson in a fedora (Noodle Vague), Friday, 19 August 2016 07:07 (nine years ago)

Yeah I was thinking about that, this was after Airplane! and before Hot Shots!

Just saw a Carson rerun on Antenna wherein Tim Conway plugs this film I (rightfully) never heard of...

Tim Conway definitely a contender for the title of actor whose caricature has graced the highest number of busy/claustrophobic movie posters from the 70s and 80s

I made a Letterboxd list of everything itt (minus broken images) because why not?

Incredibly helpful - I had that scouting poster last night and thought it likely had already been posted here. But I wasn't going to open up 550 poster images to make sure.

it's amazing seeing how struzan has worked on everything from the highest profile work (spielberg, lucas) to the lowest (weekend warriors) and the unexpected (shirley valentine, name of the rose).

Thanks. Anyone who plays around with the site for a minute has probably figured this out already, but there is an option to list the titles alphabetically, which should make finding out if a title has already been mentioned even easier.

DOCTOR CAISNO, BYCREATIVELABBUS (Doctor Casino), Saturday, 1 October 2016 02:51 (nine years ago)

D'oh! Obviously I should've checked my Letterboxd list closer.

I do like that it combines two key 70s styles, though--the busy, claustrophobic etc and the squares highlighting each member of the "all star cast."

Was going to say, I loved that movie as a kid. Wouldn't mind seeing it again, tbh.

I cringe at the idea that I once had a Kevin Smith poster on my wall, but I did, in fact, have this Mallrats poster on my wall as a student in the late 90s

if Drew Struzan is eligible for this thread it's going to get pretty crowded

Shakey δσς (sic), Wednesday, 12 October 2016 12:42 (nine years ago)

Never looked up Struzan before - wow, what a portfolio. I think a few of his have shown up here before (e.g. Cannonball Run) but I don't think most of them really fit the thread premise so no worries there.

"Skateboard" is a great find - so clearly in the genre but an aesthetic we haven't really seen much of.

If I was Allen Garfield I'd be pretty pissy about that caricature.

Interesting, I'd never heard of that movie before... Is it the first fictional story to use Stephen Knight's "the prostitutes were killed to cover up a royal scandal" theory as its basis?

Sutherland and Bujold have awesome cameos

the chapter titles for the dvd provide several potential titles for new movies in this vein, if any aspiring director wants to add to crytptosicko's list:
