What cutty said. Also, put some alcohol (if you have any on hand) on the skin before and after splinter removal.

I kind of like removing splinters.

Tie a piece of string to the splinter, tie the other end to the doorknob, and then have someone shut the door really fast.

put a hot compress on first. not be rude, but did it not occur to you to try to remove the splinter at the time rather than let it heal over?

If your splinter is THAT big, do to a doctor...I'm NOT kidding.

I'm a landscape architect that works around timber and wood daily. Splinters of normal size are an every day problem. However, ones that are imbedded or healed over, need a doctor's office.

My crew foreman tried to remove a 3" splinter that had gone into his arm and healed over. He went septic and had to be rushed to the hospital, losing a weeks worth of work.

Your life is too precious to play E.R. on yourself.

Hey thanks for the advice everybody, i did it! Although now half of my palm is hanging, i wrapped it up but i think i should go to the doctors. Ouch anti-sceptic. Now, how do i get my girlfriend back without it hurting more? :''''-(
