Bedroom A/C in kids' room died trying to keep up with this heat and I had to replace it. Bad feeling I'm going to have to replace at least one more of the two I have in other rooms.

Good news though is that I upped from a 5000 to a 6000 BTU and the thing just crushes. I wind up only running it for a little while and then switching to fan because it gets so cool so quickly.

Day four of sweating through DC heat wave sans A/C.

I was off sick y/day and honestly should probably have gone back in today but the mini-heatwave forecast was a big factor in deciding not to attempt it

(the office gets like an oven and as there was a chance my head would also feel like an oven I didn't want to combine the two)

the president of my university just authorized all personnel to leave work by 16:00 today because of the dumb Parisian heat (high of 32 today, 11 degrees above normal). I was going to give my first class of the year, but now I can roast at home instead.

X-post, I wore shirt sleeves today because it was meant to be hot (I never wear short sleeves because of scars, but it was unpleasant yesterday) and it's not that warm! It was warmer, muggier yesterday.

it's very hot and humid in the north. I'm drenched with sweat after cutting my hedges, because of the inline I live on some sections are 12 ft high and require site prohibited balancing on the top rung of wobbling steps type doings. A nice cold tyskie has been a good tonic, but need to try not to drink any more till later because I have a curry to cook.

Drunk cooking is the best. I woke up this morning to find I had made stuffed mushrooms with couscous, peppers and Brie. Was a nice surprise.

drinking and cooking is a heavenly combination, it makes me feel like a sophisticated bon vivant - rather than the alcy disgrace I really am :p
