Any pet + baby is a bad idea if you're not in control of the situation. Even cats can fuck up a baby if they want to.

last night I dreamed I adopted a pit bull puppy

While we were away on holidays, Mister M got nipped on the finger by a dog, which was that well-known vicious breed THE LABRADOR, and some neighbours of my friend came over, and it turns out that their dog had bitten their daughter and still growls at her whenever she comes near. He is of that well-regulated breed the MINIATURE FRENCH POODLE.

Seriously, if my dog growled at my kids, it wouldn't be my dog for much longer.

Also, I just heard about this Michael Vick thing recently, and I'd like him killed, please.

I was visiting a friend last night, and another friend of his came over, scratched the host's pup on the head and got a snap for his troubles. A chihuahua/beagle size snap, but still - the friend in question had dogsat the little bugger a few times before, so it's not like he's a total stranger.

Badly behaved dogs are badly behaved!!

Followup: girlfriend came back negative for dog allergy and is off steroids and seems to be okay except for recurring swelling on hand.
We think we're okay. Banjo is now a very needy member of the family.

Banjo seems to be enjoying her newfound freedom and security. I love the lolling-on-the-back thing that all the bulldogs and boxers of my acquaintance do.

There's something impressive and endearing about a momma pet nursing a pile of wiggling blindie hunger cute; they always have such a look of drained resignation on their faces.

Zero does that same thing (likes it especially if there's a ball or a bone to roll on) then gets up and does a full body shake. Banjo, we love you!

Also, pls steal me one blue puppy. A boy.

But there's hardly anything better for a birthday than putting a party hat on your pet!

My parents' beagle does the back roll and shake as well - and as pictures can attest, he looks kind of bull-y at times. Weird little/fat thing.

I'm feeling exceedingly shitty in that I was spinning banjo when she jumped at me and she landed wrong and yelped (she NEVER yelps) and hurt one of her rear legs real bad. She's running funny and limping and I wanna jump off a cliff. She is getting lots of guilt oriented cuddling, treats and special attention.

It's okay, she won't hold it against you.

I defend pits right to exist and be lovely, lovely pets, but personally I find their slitted eyes slightly too evil and repellent, particularly when that part of the face is white and the eyes are all albino-y and red-rimmed. :( Their eyes scare me more than their daaaaaangerous reputation.

what about labs & bassets? Labs can have the same slitted eye look, and bassets can have the red albino eye thing?

Nah, it's a head-shape thing: labs eyes are rounder and not set as far back to the sides. And the red eyes I just dislike across the board, but they occurred to me re pits b/c I met one a few weeks ago with that characteristic -- she was awesome and seemed like a great dog but she came charging at me done the hallway at some point and her eyes made me think of a creature out of hell. Oh well! No matter.
