That Vick story (if proven) is making me looking forward to seeing him get plastered on the turf...
Girl goes to allergist tomorrow; please keep paws crossed.

I can't get into the FUMV thread here at work, but I sure do like the title!

Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)

Any pet + baby is a bad idea if you're not in control of the situation. Even cats can fuck up a baby if they want to.

milo z, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)

heh. I was looking for a pic of a dog with a saddle & baby, and i found this instead:

Doggie saddle bags!

kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)

wait--why were you looking for the first thing to begin with?

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)

b/c the whole thing about "baby" + "dog". And somehow, i figured, somewhere, somebody had set up a way for their kid to ride their big horse of a dog.

such is the way connections in my brain work; like james burke, but drunker.

kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)

no, it's cool, i mean i think it would be an awesome picture and i'd like to see such a thing myself. i only have seen monkeys, and cats riding dogs with a saddle.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:44 (eighteen years ago)

Still can't find one, but i found this white lady making her dog a travois:

last night I dreamed I adopted a pit bull puppy

bernard snowy, Saturday, 28 July 2007 01:15 (eighteen years ago)

While we were away on holidays, Mister M got nipped on the finger by a dog, which was that well-known vicious breed THE LABRADOR, and some neighbours of my friend came over, and it turns out that their dog had bitten their daughter and still growls at her whenever she comes near. He is of that well-regulated breed the MINIATURE FRENCH POODLE.

Seriously, if my dog growled at my kids, it wouldn't be my dog for much longer.

Also, I just heard about this Michael Vick thing recently, and I'd like him killed, please.

accentmonkey, Sunday, 29 July 2007 08:23 (eighteen years ago)

I was visiting a friend last night, and another friend of his came over, scratched the host's pup on the head and got a snap for his troubles. A chihuahua/beagle size snap, but still - the friend in question had dogsat the little bugger a few times before, so it's not like he's a total stranger.

Oilyrags, Sunday, 29 July 2007 13:04 (eighteen years ago)

Badly behaved dogs are badly behaved!!

Laurel, Sunday, 29 July 2007 15:15 (eighteen years ago)

Followup: girlfriend came back negative for dog allergy and is off steroids and seems to be okay except for recurring swelling on hand.
We think we're okay. Banjo is now a very needy member of the family.

Yay Banjo!

luna, Sunday, 29 July 2007 19:21 (eighteen years ago)

two weeks pass...

The lady in the next cube has a bitch that birthed a litter of 10 blues yesterday!

TEN!

I have been promised photos, and now so have you.

Oilyrags, Friday, 17 August 2007 20:54 (eighteen years ago)

That is EPIC! Are you going to take one home with you and buy it a little bandana and play frisbee with it and then roast marshmallows around a campfire while he eats a marrow bone?

Abbott, Friday, 17 August 2007 21:00 (eighteen years ago)

I'd love to, but both of my housemates already have a dog each, so I'm going to have to get a place of my own before I can seriously entertain such thoughts.

She's posing for Playdog.

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 18 August 2007 14:54 (eighteen years ago)

Banjo seems to be enjoying her newfound freedom and security. I love the lolling-on-the-back thing that all the bulldogs and boxers of my acquaintance do.

Oilyrags, Saturday, 18 August 2007 15:05 (eighteen years ago)

And for those who would like to join my doggie fanclub, I am now offering the first Banjo wallpaper

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 18 August 2007 20:33 (eighteen years ago)

There's something impressive and endearing about a momma pet nursing a pile of wiggling blindie hunger cute; they always have such a look of drained resignation on their faces.

Abbott, Saturday, 18 August 2007 20:36 (eighteen years ago)

Zero does that same thing (likes it especially if there's a ball or a bone to roll on) then gets up and does a full body shake. Banjo, we love you!

luna, Saturday, 18 August 2007 23:39 (eighteen years ago)

Also, pls steal me one blue puppy. A boy.

luna, Saturday, 18 August 2007 23:40 (eighteen years ago)

If you can promise me no pointy polka-dot party hats, I'll see what I can do.

Oilyrags, Sunday, 19 August 2007 01:32 (eighteen years ago)

But there's hardly anything better for a birthday than putting a party hat on your pet!

Abbott, Sunday, 19 August 2007 01:37 (eighteen years ago)

My parents' beagle does the back roll and shake as well - and as pictures can attest, he looks kind of bull-y at times. Weird little/fat thing.

milo z, Sunday, 19 August 2007 01:41 (eighteen years ago)

not exactly the breed, but placed here for posterity's sake:

It was only the one time! Oh, well, and this one http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v240/lunacee/zoehat.jpg, but that was it, I swear!

luna, Sunday, 19 August 2007 04:51 (eighteen years ago)

supa KAWAI birthday pit.

I'm feeling exceedingly shitty in that I was spinning banjo when she jumped at me and she landed wrong and yelped (she NEVER yelps) and hurt one of her rear legs real bad. She's running funny and limping and I wanna jump off a cliff. She is getting lots of guilt oriented cuddling, treats and special attention.

forksclovetofu, Sunday, 19 August 2007 06:24 (eighteen years ago)

It's okay, she won't hold it against you.

luna, Sunday, 19 August 2007 08:29 (eighteen years ago)

pitbulls have kind eyes

latebloomer, Sunday, 19 August 2007 11:04 (eighteen years ago)

kingfish, Thursday, 23 August 2007 15:44 (eighteen years ago)

I defend pits right to exist and be lovely, lovely pets, but personally I find their slitted eyes slightly too evil and repellent, particularly when that part of the face is white and the eyes are all albino-y and red-rimmed. :( Their eyes scare me more than their daaaaaangerous reputation.

Laurel, Thursday, 23 August 2007 15:47 (eighteen years ago)

what about labs & bassets? Labs can have the same slitted eye look, and bassets can have the red albino eye thing?

http://www.poochiepoochie.com/blog/doggedpeace.jpg

kingfish, Thursday, 23 August 2007 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

Nah, it's a head-shape thing: labs eyes are rounder and not set as far back to the sides. And the red eyes I just dislike across the board, but they occurred to me re pits b/c I met one a few weeks ago with that characteristic -- she was awesome and seemed like a great dog but she came charging at me done the hallway at some point and her eyes made me think of a creature out of hell. Oh well! No matter.

Laurel, Thursday, 23 August 2007 15:59 (eighteen years ago)

like this?

kingfish, Thursday, 23 August 2007 16:01 (eighteen years ago)

Yes!!! Ahahaha see in that photo I am like AWWWW DISGRUNTLED EASTER DOGGY, SO CUET but in person in a narrow hallway with a strange dog that someone else (retarded) had gotten all riled up unnecessarily, I was a bit "UH".

Laurel, Thursday, 23 August 2007 16:03 (eighteen years ago)

That shot with the purple nerf is magnificent.
