Fellaini's injury time clown limbs serving as a reminder of a potential weak link

Not saying Wales will win from Belgium, but they have a much better organisation than Hungary had tonight tbh
― Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 26 June 2016 20:56 (eight years ago) link
Had to leave at the 75 minute mark, when the score was one-nil. Wonder what happened after that? Oh wait

That Belgium-Hungary game was the best I've seen so far. Belgium deserved it but Hungary played about as well as a team beaten 4-0 could do. Came close to taking it when it was still 1-0.

Went to the pub to watch this last evening game but funnily every post on ilx here was almost identical to stuff we said.
One of the best games so far imo.

"Were poor" is a bizarre statement. We are poor. We are very poor but we played well. First half was best we have been in a long long time. We are doing the best we can with extremely limited resources.
yeah, this is just straight up trolling. A team almost totally comprised of Championship players against a team of CL superstars - with 3 days extra rest.
― Number None, Monday, 27 June 2016 08:17 (eight years ago) link
and Delaney's a fucking idiot obv, but for Cox to imply that this team had some sort of just here for the craic attitude is massively disrespectful
― Number None, Monday, 27 June 2016 08:23 (eight years ago) link
it's prob the highest point for the national team since 2002, and that's based on performances (and some results) in the last year. what's sad is how few players we produce. like even one young, fast technically good forward or attacking midfielder would be a godsend.

Weve a better younger squad than we have had in a long time

cynic
thank god for this tournament, makes the end of a shitty day a little bit brighter
― Windsor Davies, Monday, 27 June 2016 16:04 (eight years ago) link
tipping it down which adds to everything a lil bit i always think. italy looking good.

"i've heard good things about him, it'll be interesting to see how he gets on in the Premier League" - Danny Murphy on multiple-Scudetto-winning, record-points-totalling, unbeaten-season-managing, three times Italian coach of the year Antonio Conte

gooooooal

lol, they're well coached apparently
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 16:35 (eight years ago) link
Happy for Chiellini.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 16:35 (eight years ago) link
de gea did that thing of not having his feet planted when the free kick was struck, maybe cost him a fraction of a second?
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 16:37 (eight years ago) link
deserved it
how is murphy so annoying after such a short reign? he's like lawro but in a younger man it's even harder to tolerate. he speaks like every word costs him a fiver.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 27 June 2016 16:37 (eight years ago) link
oh man Luca Vialli <3
― Windsor Davies, Monday, 27 June 2016 16:50 (eight years ago) link
the in ball to whichever italian frwd player posts up has been so easy today. just so simple to play it thru/over the spain midfield.

Fabregas screwing over Pelle
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:12 (eight years ago) link
he speaks like every word costs him a fiver.
lol, beautifully stated
he's definitely found his rhythm very quickly
damn that would have been a great goal
― ogmor, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:13 (eight years ago) link
Gosh, ref certainly not against Spain this second half
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:16 (eight years ago) link
the refereeing in this tournament is worse than any i can remember. they've lost any and all sense of what a fair tackle is.
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Monday, 27 June 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link
or what a foul is.
2002 surely the gold standard of wild refereeing
― ogmor, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:21 (eight years ago) link
I think it's been surprisingly good overall
(not watching this game though)
― Number None, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:21 (eight years ago) link
was it chile who p much destroyed spain at the last WC? italy doing the same here.
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:22 (eight years ago) link
Holland 5-1 at WC. Spain are weak, clueless.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:25 (eight years ago) link
Not at all impressed by Morata
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:26 (eight years ago) link
no i didn't think that was a destruction, that was a p even game iirc it was spain's 2nd game where they got a chasingxp
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:26 (eight years ago) link
You're right, it was Chile
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:27 (eight years ago) link
also most of this team won the last euros so wouldn't call them weak.
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:27 (eight years ago) link
chile were just excellent in that game. spain have become inconsistent, esp defensively, but they can still occasionally put together moves that are beyond nearly all other teams
― ogmor, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:31 (eight years ago) link
Tbf it's mostly because of Italy being v good.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:33 (eight years ago) link
lol conte
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:33 (eight years ago) link
Love Buffon
― Le Bateau Ivre, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:34 (eight years ago) link
Would pay good money to see conte and simeone in a no-holds-barred fight to the death
― Windsor Davies, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:39 (eight years ago) link
you'd still be there 6 days later
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:40 (eight years ago) link
although i suspect with simeone they'd be no escalation, he'd give it all out desperation from the off.
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:41 (eight years ago) link
what's happening? spain hammering on the door, italy in control, or somewhere in between?
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:41 (eight years ago) link
Spain bossing possession and territory but Italy looking assured
― Windsor Davies, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:42 (eight years ago) link
italy well on top first 65 mins, spain on top-ish since, italy still comfortable imo
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:42 (eight years ago) link
remember when the press were crowing about mourinho's coup of signing pedro under the noses of man utd? he's been shit since.
― pandemic, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:43 (eight years ago) link
Pedro right on cue
― Windsor Davies, Monday, 27 June 2016 17:45 (eight years ago) link
