Children in bars

Other than the usual champagne cocktails the bottomless brunch also gives an option of cans of Corona light, Miller lite, and Tecate - they're all drinking the Corona. Out of three pretty shit beers that's easily the worst, and I know from shit beer.

What are the best shit beers? I've been shying away from IPA and Tripels lately and trying to just keep it to low-alcohol garbage beer, but I'm afraid to invest in anything other than Corona and Stella, both of which I don't care for much but are at least known quantities.

And to keep this on topic, my liquor store is split with a bar and I always feel like I'm getting side-eye when I bring my kid in there with me. Maybe if Maryland would just allow the sale of beer in grocery stores like every other civilized state, we wouldn't have to go through this! But they have a parrot and she loves to go over and talk to it. Safeway is never gonna have a parrot, I can tell you that.

I'd be more afraid of the parrot than drunk drivers tbh

xp Modelo Especial (lagoon's fave iirc) is pretty decent but has had a huge marketing boost so it might not be as cheap as it previously was

most cheap beers aren't that bad imo

i mean there are trash ones for sure, college party beers like natural light, old milwaukee etc and any ice beers but imo corona budweiser miller coors they are all fine

used to be bars scattered a layer of crushed children on the floor to absorb spilled beer. can't do that anymore of course (thanks obama) so i don't know what they're doing there now.

modelo and tecate are both fine choses. if unavailable, my next go-to is a sixer of werewolf killers.

children in bars? not really a huge problem for me.
i did, however, leave a bar a month or so back because the children were loud and making it difficult to read. this was mid-afternoon on a weekday, and it's a bar/restaurant/grocery store, apparently where parents come to chat after they pick up their little kids. the kids got into some yelling, but mostly it was the relentless screeching of metal chairs against a stone floor that drove me out.

i read at bars with some regularity. usually late afternoon on my day off when places are pretty quiet. especially if there's a backyard. i can't read at home without getting distracted by the internet or records or whatever else. and i don't wanna chill in any of the coffee shops near me/can't drink that much coffee late in the day.

heck yeah, that is a good plan imo

I love reading the newspaper in a somewhat busy pub having a couple of pints and little whisky around 1pm. maybe some pub food if im hungry. Miss living in Glasgow :/

I live in California, where it is legal and typical for children to
sit in the bar area of restaurants with their parents. I am constantly
surprised by the number of families in the bar area (where there are
big screen TVs), when rest of the restaurant dining area is wide open.
Is an adult obligated to change their language if a child is seated
behind them in a bar?

I recently had a "girl's night out" on a Friday night at a local
restaurant/brewery in their separate bar area. The mother of the
family seated behind us asked us to "tone it down" because her young
children could hear our adult conversation. (Think "Sex and the City"
on cable; not HBO.) Because the bar was mostly empty and they were
right behind us, the family could hear us regardless of volume.

What is the proper etiquette? Should we have moved or should the
family have moved? While I understand her position about our
conversation, I'd like to think I can go to a bar and discuss adult
topics. If she wanted to have a "quiet" family dinner, she could
simply have sat in the quiet, dining area.

that she would be called upon to protect salacious talk in barrooms.

conversation, not just for the benefit of any stray barhopping
children, but for the sake of decorum.

I read in bars all the time -- either waiting for friends or if I lunch alone.

One of the main things I look forward to in getting out of a dry county is finding a local and doing the hell out of this.

It's bizarre to me how staring intently at your phone for minutes is cool but reading a mag or novel gets me a couple of second looks from staff and guests

reading a book in a crowded bar is madness. there aren't any quiet bars where i live because the only thing for people to do around here is eat and get drunk.

in my mind calstars goes drinking at applebee's every Friday at 5pm and is continually astounded by the presence of children

about to meet my partner and 1 yr old at a bar. hope the curmudgeons can handle it.

my solution is don't go to bars where people would feel comfortable taking their small children. works for me

sketchy, smelly, loud etc. does the trick
