So quick question. Why are these flares exploding? They don't normally do that do they?
― Drop soap, not bombs (Ste), Saturday, 18 June 2016 09:05 (eight years ago) link
It was a firework, not a flare.
This is the article i was looking for yesterday:

Yeah that's the one I found - thanks!
Anyone else get the feeling that the Republic could do Belgium today?
― Matt DC, Saturday, 18 June 2016 10:55 (eight years ago) link
Oh yes.
― Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 June 2016 10:56 (eight years ago) link
No tbh i think the presumption we can in any way replicate an italian style performance (tactics having played a huge role in nullifying the belgians) is a total nonsense given our disastrous twenty minutes after having taken the lead against sweden, and i doubt we'll be as good nor they as bad again
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 11:07 (eight years ago) link
If this was the first game i'd be inclined to agree but i don't think Belgium can be as slack and disinterested the second time around. Ireland looked hopeless in the second half.
xp, Darragh otm
― On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Saturday, 18 June 2016 11:08 (eight years ago) link
Im not writing us off and i dont think we will ever be the scuttling cowards trap turned us into under o'neill so im looking forward to it, just not buying the first round results as a predictor is all. The wise men of rte were blowing shite after the italy belgian game and im reacting.
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 11:59 (eight years ago) link
Im not writing us off
lol coulda fooled me
― Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 June 2016 12:24 (eight years ago) link
Carrasco and Dembele in, Fellaini and Naingolan out. I can't possibly see Belgium tanking it again.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 18 June 2016 12:27 (eight years ago) link
Ireland look way too deep already here

― On a Raqqa tip (ShariVari), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:04 (eight years ago) link
Inevitable. Very nice goal tho.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:05 (eight years ago) link
Ireland may have been too deep in the first half but they left themselves wide, wide open for that.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:07 (eight years ago) link
McCarthy a disgrace there.
Was it him or a n other with the idiots tackle in the buildup to the first?
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:18 (eight years ago) link
Incredibly slack there, after defending p well all game. Shame as Belgium aren't particularly great, they were letting Ireland have way too much ball at 1-0
― Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:21 (eight years ago) link
Send him back to Drumchapel. He has being fkn rubbish in this tournament. (xp)
― Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:21 (eight years ago) link
... I mean, Castlemilk.
Xpost Belgian guy with the cross in had 3 touches too
― Neptune Bingo (Michael B), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:21 (eight years ago) link
Yeah the first goal was an incredibly comfortable finish
Its a pity the effort and organisation have been good but then thats the risk of ceding possession for 90 mins and banking on zero slips. And idk was there a more realistic approach either.
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:23 (eight years ago) link
Oh fuck
― Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:26 (eight years ago) link
This is getting embarrassing
― Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:27 (eight years ago) link
Ireland have been so Brave this half that they've stopped tracking back or coming out to cover any balls in front of them.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:28 (eight years ago) link
Wonderful goal really, but also terrible
― imago, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:28 (eight years ago) link
Nah at two this was inevitable.
Our legs have gone which isnt surprising. Not even gonna rage against them tbh the die was cast and prob relied on more effort and luck than could have been expected and our footballing trio being right on their game
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:28 (eight years ago) link
Any goal started by nabbing the ball on your own byeline is kind of wonderful
― imago, Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:29 (eight years ago) link
xp that was a bog average goal
― Daithi Bowsie (darraghmac), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:29 (eight years ago) link

― Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Saturday, 18 June 2016 14:41 (eight years ago) link
Glad for them, obv
Not writing us off against an already qualified italy tbh, can they be knocked off top?
