some (largely hopeless?) spirit of southern-European togetherness perhaps?
am way out of my comfort zone commenting on such things as i'm not particularly worldly or well-travelled, but it does strike me that there is a certain fellow-feeling between yr Cypriots, yr Sicilians, yr Neapolitans and Irish (who i guess are southern European in every important sense other than geographically) which might lead to a certain kind of automatic disdain for the naturally dispassionate and arrogant northern Europeans, scared of themselves and of what they might achieve if they were to really cut loose. except for the germans of course, everyone fears the germans
idk these are somewhat drunken impressions formed over somewhat liquid dinners

eh, the only way a guy could possibly be top of the predictor league at this stage is if he was a pessimistic bastard anticipating constant low-scoring bores; better to be optimistic and wrong imo

Despite the 2-0 result, Wilmots was critical of Antonio Conte’s approach to the game.“Italy specifically played on the counter-attack. They did not play real football and when faced with everyone sitting back, it becomes difficult.

Clark well out of his depth alright. But weve nursed worse centre halves through tournaments before

own goal aside, i thought Clark played well yesterday

own goal and attempted own goal.
i thought the whole team was p good but got murdered down the left flank - i would be very worried about what italy will do down that side if we are as narrow against them. a really stupid panic after (our) goal too. like we were scared of winning.

Suspect the salt cod classico this evening will be better but the Austria midfield looks promising. Great early hit from Alaba just wide of the post.

from his wiki page: Király is recognizable for wearing a pair of grey tracksuit bottoms instead of shorts in almost every match he plays,[2] which he says he chose for comfort after playing on rough surfaces[3], and grey in particular because they bring him good luck.[4] The trousers are inspired by Phil Campbell of Edinburgh.
