Things sold as "an exploration of what it means to be human" unless they really are prepared to think about human life in any possible way it could exist.

Writers taking a well known character and "seeing what makes them tick".

Definitely Steve Jobs. I saw an interview with Kate Winslet in which she said that was the first film she'd been in that she couldn't imagine a type of person who wouldn't be interested.

Just asking because she's among the nudest non-pr0n movie stars there is. My wife and I laughed ourselves silly when she was in Iris - a movie, it must be said, about a senile Existentialist philosopher from the British Isles - and she was naked before the opening credits.

I have known some Existentialists. I have known some Anglo-Irish college professors. These are some very clothed people, in my experience.

did i say Glastonbury already? specifically a week's coverage of same on 6music.

koogs, Friday, 24 June 2016 12:16 (ten years ago)

6music can do what it wants, its BBC4's weekend transformation into Uncut that grinds my gears

oh wrong thread

http://www.jhbooks.com/pictures/137370.jpg (Noodle Vague), Friday, 24 June 2016 12:21 (ten years ago)

the bbc4 music thing was good. but they are probably on the 20th time around for some of those documentaries by now.

koogs, Friday, 24 June 2016 13:03 (ten years ago)

I get one "documentaries using words of more than one syllable" channel and it sucks when its nothing but The Rock'n'Roll Years and Norwegian versions of The Bill all weekend every weekend

http://www.jhbooks.com/pictures/137370.jpg (Noodle Vague), Friday, 24 June 2016 13:07 (ten years ago)

i am all over the Norwegian versions of The Bill (more like Swedish Cracker tbf). am slightly annoyed that there isn't one this week and that it's a 10th showing of Egypt's Lost Cities instead.

actually, BBC4 is all glasto all the time this weekend now that bbc3 is no more, so our points have converged 8)

koogs, Friday, 24 June 2016 13:22 (ten years ago)

Swedish crackers, nom.

i hate the word "brexit" so much that i haven't read anything about the whole thing. so, don't care. good luck, europe.

scott seward, Saturday, 25 June 2016 23:44 (ten years ago)

they softened us up w/ "grexit" first

Mordy, Saturday, 25 June 2016 23:48 (ten years ago)

I've been driven a bit mad by my inability to come up with any good brexit puns. Best I have is "The one what brexit, fixit"

socka flocka-jones (man alive), Sunday, 26 June 2016 02:02 (ten years ago)

Meanwhile I can't stop coming up with other entity-leaving-a-group neologisms; I feel like this should be my job. Yesternight I sat bolt upright in bed and said MISSOURIVIDERCI. My wife is considering her own referendum on brexiting from the marriage more seriously than ever, I fear.

Mordy, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 23:13 (nine years ago)

Mordy, Tuesday, 5 July 2016 23:13 (nine years ago)

Fireworks.

The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 6 July 2016 02:07 (nine years ago)

they'd be trying to talk you into fireworks launched from drones as a funding loophole

mh, Wednesday, 6 July 2016 02:11 (nine years ago)

I can't say that I don't care about fireworks because I actively hate them.

hating ≠ just not caring about

mookieproof, Friday, 12 August 2016 23:38 (nine years ago)

Well I do both: I simultaneously just don't care about the games themselves, and hate how they get talked about.
