I'm looking at that title for episode 9 and all I can think of is Daniel Day-Lewis yelling "Bastard in a basket! Bastard in a basket!" near the end of There Will Be Blood.

I think it might feel odd because it seems wrongly timed? Names for battles tend to come much later than the battle, so knowing the name of a battle beforehand seems odd.

inside, skeletons are always inside, that's obvious. (dowd), Thursday, 9 June 2016 14:49 (ten years ago)

Could be worse: could be called 'The First Battle of th Bastards'. But it does imply some resolution between the two.

Chances of Ramsay being torn to pieces by wolves are probably pretty high actually.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers please

kinder, Thursday, 9 June 2016 16:14 (ten years ago)

Well Littlefinger's a total bastard, maybe he'll show up.

albvivertine, Thursday, 9 June 2016 16:21 (ten years ago)

Every time someone says "winter is coming" I'm like fuck off with your spoilers.

Matt DC, Thursday, 9 June 2016 16:36 (ten years ago)

I bet the producers were high fiving

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Thursday, 9 June 2016 16:48 (ten years ago)

as well they should've been

gonna be more of a struggle to make a 420 minute long series finale

not that there was any reason to doubt it but those dudes confirmed as being from the brotherhood, with the main dude w/ beard credited on the show as a named book character. also the actor has been fairly amusingly teasing 'spoilers'/trolling fans on twitter

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 9 June 2016 17:22 (ten years ago)

they're doing 7 episodes in season 7, right? if they're each an hour long, that's 420 minutes

/blazin

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Thursday, 9 June 2016 17:23 (ten years ago)

woaaaaaah

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 9 June 2016 17:35 (ten years ago)

and is if i even have to point this out, but a rumored 6 episodes in the final season? 7 (rumored episodes in season 7) minus 6 is 1. #1 on the television

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Thursday, 9 June 2016 17:38 (ten years ago)

My brother says Euron is the biggest scumbag in the whole story, is that true?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Thursday, 9 June 2016 20:04 (ten years ago)

unless your brother is George RR Martin, then no.

sarahell, Thursday, 9 June 2016 20:09 (ten years ago)

Wait, you can rearrange "Robert Adam Gilmour" into "Dag, George RR Martin!"

Interpretive Jigglypuffery (Leee), Thursday, 9 June 2016 20:26 (ten years ago)

The leader of those horsemen was in the brotherhood w/o banners in previous seasons. Thoros of Myr.

I call Sansa ending up as the king's landing ruler at the end of the show. Baelish weds her and becomes king, then falls for LSH and dies.

remove butt (abanana), Friday, 10 June 2016 11:24 (ten years ago)

Leader of which horsemen?

Evan, Friday, 10 June 2016 11:54 (ten years ago)

The murderous ones.

remove butt (abanana), Friday, 10 June 2016 12:03 (ten years ago)

I guess that doesn't clear it up. The ones who threatened McShane's village.

remove butt (abanana), Friday, 10 June 2016 12:03 (ten years ago)

Who's LSH?

Analogue Bubblebutt (jed_), Friday, 10 June 2016 12:03 (ten years ago)

what's a village?

, Friday, 10 June 2016 12:15 (ten years ago)

LSH is a big book spoiler that hasn't happened in the show yet (and may not happen at all).

groovypanda, Friday, 10 June 2016 12:18 (ten years ago)

The leader of those horsemen was in the brotherhood w/o banners in previous seasons. Thoros of Myr.

he was neither in previous seasons nor thoros of myr (paul kaye). he's supposedly lem lemoncloak

the world over the crotch. (contenderizer), Friday, 10 June 2016 12:57 (ten years ago)

Yeah, indeed that was not Thoros of Myr.

Evan, Friday, 10 June 2016 13:46 (ten years ago)

I just learned that Podrick is not Gendry and feel like the series is ruined for me. I've been so worried for Podrick every time someone who might want to kill one of Robert Baratheon's bastard sons has been nearby. Bah.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Friday, 10 June 2016 13:49 (ten years ago)

i had that confusion for a while too, my mental image of gendry is still just podrick

lazy rascals, spending their substance, and more, in riotous living (Merdeyeux), Friday, 10 June 2016 13:53 (ten years ago)

Haha that one is an understandable confusion as they are eerily similar looking, but in general this thread gets characters so confused I'm not sure how any of you can keep track of this show at all. It can be hard enough even when you can tell everyone apart.

Evan, Friday, 10 June 2016 13:54 (ten years ago)

my mistake of thoros
gendry/podrick messes me up too

remove butt (abanana), Friday, 10 June 2016 14:26 (ten years ago)

It can be hard enough even when you can tell everyone apart.

I honestly don't get this. I have never been confused about who is who and why they work for whomever on this show, and I'm half in the bag most Sunday evenings when we watch it.

El Tomboto, Friday, 10 June 2016 14:37 (ten years ago)

I was trying to be sympathetic. I like looking up supplemental details about certain characters or locations (though I haven't gone as far as actually reading the books), so I'm not sure whether certain scenes would have confused me if I had not read up on the context outside of what the show explains.

Evan, Friday, 10 June 2016 14:45 (ten years ago)

That's what you do. You drink and you know things.

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Friday, 10 June 2016 15:00 (ten years ago)

i def thought it was gendry in the ep. 8 preview

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Friday, 10 June 2016 15:23 (ten years ago)

(obv it isnt)

i do wonder if he'd come back in some capacity, if only as an added complication for someone

if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Friday, 10 June 2016 15:25 (ten years ago)

Guys all the blonde people are Sean Bean and the dark haired ones are CLive Owen. This isn't difficult.

a 47-year-old chainsaw artist from South Carolina (Phil D.), Friday, 10 June 2016 15:26 (ten years ago)

yeah I was so jealous when he said that

El Tomboto, Friday, 10 June 2016 15:42 (ten years ago)

thought clive "king in the north" owen would be in it for longer tbh

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Friday, 10 June 2016 15:43 (ten years ago)

seems like too much of a coincidence that gendry would set off in a boat east of westeros and then a few years later "euron" appears on a boat from the west.

Roberto Spiralli, Friday, 10 June 2016 15:50 (ten years ago)

gendry also had a secretary named euron

Blowout Coombes (President Keyes), Friday, 10 June 2016 16:17 (ten years ago)

Gnedry

End = Ned ...or so we thought (Euron = you're on)

"Ned, you're on"

Ned Stark is back

Evan, Friday, 10 June 2016 16:26 (ten years ago)

Gendry was Chris from Skins so I've never had the Podrick confusion.

groovypanda, Friday, 10 June 2016 19:08 (ten years ago)

lol for once i'd be delighted if the obsessives are right

....?

jason waterfalls (gbx), Friday, 10 June 2016 20:13 (ten years ago)
