I can remember some short lived instant coffee in a can, where by some chemical process it warmed up when you opened it

All these Blue Bottle and Stumptown cartoned ice coffee products are pretty bad and disappointing. It seems weird to me that they even make them when they're so anal about freshness otherwise.

btw aeropress makes an excellent iced coffee just sayin

Do people still tend to try to keep kids from drinking coffee, or is that just something I see in really old films so majorly bygone.
Got given the role of watching the drinks table today and had a lot of kids coming around asking for tea and coffee.
I'm just hoping that there aren't a lot of parents stuck with kids on caffeine rushes cos I wasn't thinking much about it.

Not sure why if there was a day celebrating Africa the organisers would come out with a major tin of Nescafé who I think were one of the main reasons things like Fair trade were set up. Probably should have rejected serving the stuff on ethical grounds, like.

I know nothing about caffeine's effects on kids, but my mom would let us have any, except I guess in the occasional Coke. I remember drinking caffeinated tea in the morning around 15 years old, and after-school diner coffee shortly after.

There is one place I know of in Brooklyn that actually gets kegs of Manhattan Special and has it on tap -- I find it slightly gross from the bottle but it was pretty good on tap with all the foam. Nitro seems sort of like the nu-version of that, but not sweet.

I went crazy and ordered a Behmor 1600 Plus roaster from Sweet Maria's.

First try was 4 oz of Brazilian coffee yesterday, let it rest overnight... I am pleased. Created a good bit of smoke roasting but not that much worse than searing a couple of steaks - not sure how bad it would get with larger batches but I'll likely find out soon. If necessary, I guess I can set up a table outside and roast there.

how does it compare to a popcorn popper?

I never tried a popcorn popper, this accomodates 4oz/8oz/1lb batches and runs on a timer (it's basically a repurposed toaster oven) so I just have to preheat, start the batch, wait for the 'first crack' and then time from there to roughly hit second crack for a city-city+ roast.

I got one of those nitro cans of stumptown cold brew and it tasted like coffee for about six minutes or so. Then it turned into thin sewage. What the fuck, man.

Stumptown really killed its brand after the VC fund got involved imo. Now I'm partial to Toby's

Right now I'm drinking one of Starbucks new faux third wave coffees. It's their more expensive beans brewed in a clover. It doesn't taste much better than their regular drip imo - same over roasted, flat flavor.

The non-nitro Stumptown cold brew bottles are pretty serviceable, what I'd look for at a whole foods in a coffee desert in the summer probably.

u know what is not too bad at Starbucks btw is the cold brew. Maybe the cold dulls some of the grosser flavors in their cof.

i tried the pour over directly into ice "japanese style" the flavor was nice but still a lil watery even tho i made it stronger than usual, i really like cold brew but hey u gotta make that ahead of time, prob mess w the quantities to make it stronger next time
