i really hope the TV show and the books have different endings

, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:00 (ten years ago)

I feel like the climax of this season will obv be the revelation of whatever is going on inside the tower (which we can presume). and perhaps Dany setting sail for Westeros.

ryan, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:01 (ten years ago)

Was that guy playing the Sean Bean character the comedian guy who has appeared in Stewart Lee stuff and Nighty Night?

Stevolende, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:21 (ten years ago)

I think it was Sean Bean

, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:27 (ten years ago)

glad we settled that now whats this abt a tower and whats going on inside

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:29 (ten years ago)

also i was just made aware of the R + L = M theory as well, which is intriguing.

ryan, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 17:31 (ten years ago)

Kevin Eldon whose name I couldn't think of earlier, if I've ever really known it.

Stevolende, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:15 (ten years ago)

2013 People's Sexiest Man Alive apparently

ulysses, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)

Think I've read somewhere that he's an actor rather than a comedian?

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:23 (ten years ago)

I initially assumed that the fact he was playing an actor on the show was an injoke about that but it was actually super unclear whether he was meant to be playing an actor or actual resurrected Ned Stark

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:26 (ten years ago)

a good picture of sean bean

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:26 (ten years ago)

ned's back, baby!

Clay, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:28 (ten years ago)

he was in the tower then he came out!

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:29 (ten years ago)

Seeing him alive and then beheaded again was a rollercoaster for me.

Evan, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:31 (ten years ago)

it was obviously a fake head though, think it was just their way of slyly confirming the fan theory re how he survived the execution in season 1

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:33 (ten years ago)

I thought about the earliest appearance I'd seen of Kevin had him doing a stand up routine on a show introduced by Stewart Lee.
Could be he's better known as an actor now. Wonder if we'll see much more of him & the troupe in this?

Stevolende, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:37 (ten years ago)

Was the actual execution of Ned Stark in season 1 fake or did they actually execute a fake Ned Stark?

silverfish, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:37 (ten years ago)

or (given that this is Game of Thrones) was it a fake execution of a fake Ned Stark?

silverfish, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:38 (ten years ago)

does GOT exist in the lost universe

lag∞n, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 18:41 (ten years ago)

not sure why yous are so obsessed with who's playing who, it's called ACTING, there's no reason why sean bean should play sean bean

It was noticeable that there were no polar bears north of the Wall.

Probably off gallivanting in Dorne or something.

groovypanda, Tuesday, 24 May 2016 19:12 (ten years ago)

The Cersei actress is Essie Davis, she was in the Babadook.

Do love those cheekbones.

How long will it take Euron's 40 men and their families to make a thousand ships do you think?

CRANK IT YA FILTHY BISM! (jed_), Wednesday, 25 May 2016 01:06 (ten years ago)

you all haven't considered that turn out at a kingsmoot is comparable to that of a municipal election? This could be like 5% of the Iron Island population

sarahell, Wednesday, 25 May 2016 01:07 (ten years ago)

If there were 5% there would only be around 800. Yes, of course I'm being stupidly disingenuous but the arithmetic on this show is ridiculous considering there were about one man to each of the ships they stole.

Although none of that was as wtf as the cock and balls close up of the young guy playing Joffrey in the play.

CRANK IT YA FILTHY BISM! (jed_), Wednesday, 25 May 2016 01:15 (ten years ago)

One man in yen gathered company to each of the stolen ships, I mean.

CRANK IT YA FILTHY BISM! (jed_), Wednesday, 25 May 2016 01:17 (ten years ago)

What a crap episode. I like that they're speeding things up, but it's so annoying and slapdash. As yet motiveless (yet not unthinking?) snow zombies not threatening and silly, like any CGI horde(or). And super lame that the huge CGI snow zombie horde is apparently the only time you ever see a number of anything gathered in one place in this show, whose every scene appears to be 2-3 people talking with 20 people standing in the background, like a stage play rather than a big budget epic. It's bad enough that they don't have enough computer money to show dragons or that the same limitations have made them take out wolves at a, er, dire pace, but why does this huge film-around-the-world production cultural juggernaut suddenly seem so cheap and backlot? And even gullible Sansa, who finally gets a chance to stand up to someone, is immediately taken advantage of in dumb fashion.

"I don't trust you anymore and should just kill you!"

"What if I told you ... your uncle the Black Adder has gathered his army to defend you?"

"He did? Oh, that's great news! OK, now go back wherever you came from."

"Um, Sansa, don't you think we should send a raven to confirm that intel?"

"Nah, what's the worst that can happen? Besides, we have not seen a raven in this show in several season, I think the raven budget has been severely curtailed."

At least we finally find out how Hodor got his name. It's the number one reason people have been watching the show, and I was convinced that wasn't going to be revealed until the very end of the last book. Now if only they would establish whether Ramsay is a bad guy or not.

RIP green nature sprite, whatever you were, whoever you were, killed by the things you somehow created for some reason to do something.

Ask the Maester:

RIP, Three-Eyed Raven. You were a bad teacher of greenseeing, my dude. If the fate of the world hinged on my ability to pass on my knowledge, I’d tell my only student, “DON’T LET THE NIGHT’S KING TOUCH YOU,” five times a day.

Did you not just read the last jillion posts, or.

Prolly not, I just saw the episode so was avoiding the thread.

Whenever I see the wildling head guy I think of Graham Chapman in "Yellowbeard:"

Once they have built the ship factory and assembly line I reckon they could knock out around 50 a day? Give or take a weekend or two they should be good to go in a month.

For bodies we are ready to build pyramids (wtev), Wednesday, 25 May 2016 05:36 (ten years ago)

Maybe he wants them to make model ships?

Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 25 May 2016 06:33 (ten years ago)

It reminded me of that bit in Vikings where the lead guy was like "fuck it lets go OVER THE CLIFF with our boats!" and next thing you know theyre in Paris.

Stoop Crone (Trayce), Wednesday, 25 May 2016 06:52 (ten years ago)

Iron Islands seem pretty light on trees, and you'd think their obsession with boats (and habit of losing battles) would have further depleted their forests. So tack on a few more months of gathering supplies, or a few more years of growing trees.

Anyway, Oliver Reed in "Baron Munchausen:"
http://www.chud.com/articles/content_images/106/BARON/bmReed.jpg

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 25 May 2016 11:46 (ten years ago)

The Iron Islands are supposedly a quite big landmass all in all, so there should be a lot of trees. But they've never made particularly sense to me. They are poor areas, sparsely populated, and there really aren't that many trade routes nearby they can raid. It's as if the people of the Hebrides decided to try and conquer Scotland. Like, how?

Frederik B, Wednesday, 25 May 2016 12:21 (ten years ago)

Maybe Bran can travel back in time and tell them to plant extra trees.
