a couple years ago a gigantic pitbull named Razor sprinted toward me and sent me to the hospital with modest chunks of my lower leg missing.

despite that, i love pitbulls. they have a bad reputation but they are so fucking sweet it's unbelievable. they love to cuddle on the couch and get the deep rubs. <3

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Monday, 23 May 2016 21:11 (ten years ago)

The dog liked to jump at tree branches, which my boss' pit does too. xp

Je55e, Monday, 23 May 2016 21:12 (ten years ago)

there is an old bloke around the corner from me who has two sibling pitbulls called Buddy and Holly. They are both absolutely adorable, despite the threatening sign he has put on his gate - they are harmless and lovely.

Just round the next bend on the estate there is this fucker with a horrible teeth on legs thing that almost ripped my Labrador's ear off. I got so mad that I had a few drinks later and put a few inch and half 8" screws into the cunt's tyres - just for thinking it was amusing rather than a seriously dangerous incident.

Treeship, Wednesday, 20 July 2016 02:45 (nine years ago)

he probably hears something. dogs sometimes play at imaginary threats but cats, if they get restless, are worse. all that random yowling at nothing.

sorry to share this as its distressing but I always feel like, yes they are kind of cute at times but since all breed of dog is just a genetic variant why not stop this particular variant since we cannot trust people in general to keep them locked up

Dean of the University (Latham Green), Thursday, 22 June 2017 17:54 (eight years ago)

every breed of dog that has strong enough jaws to bite a person in a way which causes damage is potentially dangerous

as ever it's always the owner's fault. anyone who has a dog that mauls someone should be jailed and banned from owning animals imo

-_- (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:01 (eight years ago)

you should at least need some kind of license to own certain breeds - and some kind of inspection of your property /set up

agreed its not the dogs fault - its the government's fault for not regulating stupid humans

Dean of the University (Latham Green), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:02 (eight years ago)

it definitely is the dog's fault. pitbulls are genetically predisposed to attack. the breed should be banned.

heaven parker (anagram), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:04 (eight years ago)

imo they're not any more aggressive or prone to flip out than most other breeds, but they're very high energy and are insanely strong

mh, Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:06 (eight years ago)

nah, that's not supported by any studies

-_- (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:12 (eight years ago)

they're a very popular breed, and very strong, so tend to be the dogs we here about in cases where a great deal of damage is done to the victim. but they're not more likely to attack than other dogs.

-_- (jim in vancouver), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:13 (eight years ago)

i was attacked by one as a teenager. they are loaded guns with legs.
they + their owners should all be shot.

(2016 fatal dog attacks by breed)

marcos, Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:35 (eight years ago)

pit bulls are actually banned in the city where i live. there are definitely still pit bulls around though. there is a huge debate right now bc a vocal contingent of pit bull lovers claim the law is discriminatory and classist.

marcos, Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:36 (eight years ago)

it might get repealed, idk though

Labradors killed two people last year?

Treeship, Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:44 (eight years ago)

those stats don't take into account what a "pit" is or how prevalent ownership of the breed is in comparison to, say, dobermans.
dogs are dogs. some dogs are dangerous. I've known a dachshund who fucked up a friends hand pretty badly. dogs with shitty owners tend to be shitty dogs. pits are by and large lovely mutts. don't leave your child alone with a potentially dangerous dog ever, regardless of breed.
i think i post this once every three months.

Chocolate-covered gummy bears? Not ruling those lil' guys out. (ulysses), Thursday, 22 June 2017 18:55 (eight years ago)

pit bulls are more potentially dangerous than other breeds though

heaven parker (anagram), Thursday, 22 June 2017 19:14 (eight years ago)

there are other equally dangerous breeds, since to be a dangerous breed just requires the dog be large and strong, and there are larger and stronger dogs than pit bulls

a neighbor's pit bull named Razor charged at me out of nowhere a few years ago, bit the living fuck out of left calf and knee, and i had to go to the hospital.

despite this, i love pit bulls. they're some of the most loving, sweet dogs. they are serious, SERIOUS cuddlers.

Karl Malone, Thursday, 22 June 2017 19:23 (eight years ago)

an old refrigerator is "more potentially dangerous" to a child than a trained pitbull but y'all are straight up trolling now

imo the names people give to pits should be applied to ridiculous small dogs for fun

Karl OTM about pit bulls and cuddling. My friends pitbull was very affectionate

Unchanging Window (Ross), Thursday, 22 June 2017 19:39 (eight years ago)

looking through the statistics, it seems that pit bulls are, in fact, more likely to attack than other breeds, which makes sense when you consider the fact that many of them were selectively bred to fight.

i also know for a fact that most pit bulls are great dogs with big hearts who are, if anything, more affectionate than average.

Treeship, Thursday, 22 June 2017 19:55 (eight years ago)

I like a lot of the Pitbulls in my neighbourhood, there was one really nasty fucker but it is now gone - with it's shitty owner. It is irresponsible owners with big fucking Akitas that are the current menace around here now. There is a guy who lives around the corner with a sibling duo of Pitbulls named Buddy and Holly, they are so affectionate and cute I even bought christmas presents for them last year. My labrador gets totally jel when I always make a big fuss of them if they are in the garden while we pass. They definitely have not got a bite in them.

calzino, Thursday, 22 June 2017 20:06 (eight years ago)

Oh we're doing this again.

The statistics are that there are a higher number of pitties around than most other dogs, so it's not at all surprising that they'd lead in number of breed-identified attacks.

They are not a more dangerous dog than x or y. They are just mercilessly overbred (visit a shelter sometime).

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 22 June 2017 22:40 (eight years ago)

Why are they breeding so many?

Treeship, Thursday, 22 June 2017 22:46 (eight years ago)

They're concentrated in large part in poorer neighborhoods where people don't have the money to get them fixed and/or don't give a shit. This has been changing over time as the breed (which isn't really a breed, but a loose grouping of genetic characteristics) has found more acceptance in communities outside the hood or biker gangs or whereever else "tough" dogs are prized. But there are still far too many that wind of being destroyed at shelters because they shouldn't have been born in the first place.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 22 June 2017 22:53 (eight years ago)

Breed bans are fucking awful, though, and anybody who supports one is also fucking awful.

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 22 June 2017 22:54 (eight years ago)

First they came for the pit bulls . . .

To Adam's point, even I don't give a damn anymore. Enjoy your dogs. Clean up their poop. End of story.
