I have a new god and that god is Japanese/flash-iced coffee in a Chemex w/ Yirgacheffe beans.

No mug, I drink it in pint glass quantities.

do u just use an insane amnt of coffee or what

i mean not cause of the pint glass but cause of the melting ice

35-40g coffee, 300g water, 300g ice
though I just eyeball the water and ice now tbh

had coffee this weekend but something went wrong because it lacked a lot of flavour

my caffeine tolerance is crazy now, i have also just been super exhausted lately too so maybe that's why i'm not noticing much of an effect, but i drank an entire 32 oz french press yesterday and didn't really feel anything

when i was on vacation last year w/friends and was like "unnnh neeed caffeeeeine" and they tell me I just had a cup of coffee and I insist that was just the tiniest dent in my overwhelming need

Yeah like I almost convinced myself that I only drink two coffees a day but then I went to visit my mom out west - she makes filter coffee and I have an espresso machine - and still felt groggy even after drinking coffee (and once I accidentally used her decaf and almost died of headache). Because the truth is that I drink double espressos and am fooling no one with my false claims about mere borderline addiction.

Maybe the beans were dead. The coffee did not work enough.

I also was under the impression that filter coffee had more caffeine. but it depends on the beans, the brewing and the amount.

Also I said DOUBLE ESPRESSO

Filter probably has more caffeine but espresso is more concentrated

one cup of filter coffee will have more caffeine than a tiny single espresso

but rrrobynn is drinking double espresso all day so that's very different than comparing a single cup of filter to a single espresso

the local cof place i go to only pours double shots, so if you get a latte and ask for an extra shot in it, you get two

so i hardly ever have a latte with less than four shots

In Seattle, all shots are doubles everywhere, as far as I've seen.

Sump is a nice place in St. Louis we visited and now we order from them on the reg. Excellent beans.

the nice thing about espresso shots is that places give you a little piece of chocolate or a lemon rind or w/e, very nice

All the places around me give you a little cup of Topo Chico to cleanse your palette post cof, it's nice.

my place serves espresso with a little moist towlette on the saucer, for your butt

I don’t even drink coffee but after seeing an espresso shot get pulled through a naked portafilter on an espresso machine, it’s the only thing I want in my life. Watching the water swish through the finely ground coffee beans and then seeing it seep through each hole and then finally getting being allowed to witness how the various flows group together to form that golden brown liquid of the gods. Man oh man, it’s like being around to see a superweapon charging up.

How anal is the ILX cof brigade about bean age? Espresso beans are 'good' from 3-10 days, pourover within a week or two, etc. if you listen to the coffee version of audiophile forums.

I'm getting lazy, esp. now that I've embraced the Chemex and I'm pretty sure that I can't tell much of a difference between one week and one month on beans, if not longer.
