If Kenan wins this I will be mad at all of you for like a week.

Kenan is like the Kevin Nealon of this cast, always there to matter-of-factly point out an incredulous situation.
Also, Jean K. Jean. zut alors!

WTF - watching her do 17 different rapidfire faces for Kathie Lee is like a comedy force of nature.
― Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 15 April 2009 03:47 (fifteen years ago) link
for me this really comes down to Hammond's stiff impressions that pride accuracy over hilarity, or the fact that Seth Meyers is kind of a one trick pony with the bait-and-switch

"Or as I like to call it, the bait-and-switch."

It's like a way overwrought attempt at being a comedy force of nature.

I used to loathe Samberg, but he won me over with the Digital Shorts. I also like Kenan & Kristin & I don't know the rest, so I won't vote.

2/3 of digital shorts = terrible, 1/3 of digital shorts = awesomely lolz
I'm happy to live with that ratio over 80% mildly amusing.

If Kenan Thompson doesn't have dirt on Loren Michaels I would be surprised.
Srsly, pull random person off the street and have him shout this guy's lines in the same manner, it will be funnier.
― Hadrian VIII, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 00:57 (fifteen years ago) link
Whiney OTM, Kenan is pretty funny. Far from the best on the cast, but also far from the worst. Jean K. Jean is great, the Scared Straight skits usually make me lol, and for some reason that I still can't explain - the "FIX IT!" guy really cracked me up.

OTM
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 01:13 (fifteen years ago) link
Thinking about those Scared Straight skits and the "FIX IT" guy, Kenan really seems to crack up the other cast members when he gets a little carried away. I remember one skit where Samberg and Hader got the uncontrollable giggles, kinda adds to Kenan's charms for me.
― homage is parody gone sour (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 01:17 (fifteen years ago) link
dude the "fix it" bit is one of the hardest things to watch about that show. absolutely nothing funny about it imo
― the great wallogina (k3vin k.), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 03:09 (fifteen years ago) link
I don't know, it just struck me as one of those skits where a totally silly idea actually worked out.

I'm trying to think of fat people on SNL who are unfunny and the only one I can think of is Jim Belushi.

yeah, i can't really argue w/ these results. i kinda feel bad for Hammond, though, his best kills, but there's something cruel about him just hanging around the show forever like this.
― Excuse Me While I Pimp My Al Shipley (some dude), Thursday, 23 April 2009 03:39 (fifteen years ago) link
hammond is kind of a cop out pick imo, dude is obv over the hill + he's never on the show anymore
i'm considering kenan the real winner \o_O/
― sans crit (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 23 April 2009 03:40 (fifteen years ago) link
Hammond's still a full-fledged cast member. Tell Casey Wilson or the new fat guy that it's a cop out to pick him. Dude still takes up space, dude still infects each show with some crappy nasal impression or a bug-eyed take on a black guy, and dude still stands up there on center stage at 12:59 every Saturday night, bowing to the audience as if he did anything worth a shit that week.
Hating on Kenan Thompson is like, I don't know, hating on a loaf of bread for having too much crust or something.

what does this mean??? i calls em as i sees em, and he is not funny
― domma sonner (k3vin k.), Thursday, 23 April 2009 03:56 (fifteen years ago) link
Pretty on point results for the most part, though I think Kenan should've been at the top. Outside of his pretty questionable Obama impression, Armisen isn't bad. Hammond isn't exactly hilarious but the dude's pretty harmless. I don't dislike him. He seems kind of like an all-purpose prop on the show at this point. He never really stars in sketches does he? Just sort of fills in the spaces. Anyway, he's not really aggressively bad like Kenan is pretty much 100% of the time.
