anyway back to the brew, prob cldve made it slightly stronger but its still p good

Had some cof just now -- the office has this Jura auto-espresso machine that they fill with starbucks beans. It's like just ok enough that I try to use it and not buy coffee, but it has a slight nastiness to it. Super acidic.

am drinking mediocre coff right now :/

I'm usually a light-medium roast guy, but I got a bag of Sumatra Gayo River which was more of a medium-dark and it's making me re-evaluate. It's not at all burnt tasting, but the slightly darker roast brings out some really nice spicy notes.

Sumatra is known for being very zingy and spicy and sharp. I've never really had it light-roasted, but would be curious to try.

it's also often kinda funky! I like the funk but I know that it's not popular with many folks, especially when combined with the zingy acidity you mention.

I have usually really disliked Sumatra, but have never had (or even seen it, tbh) from a roaster I really like.

feel like a lot of good 3rd wave roasters steer clear of it due to the aforementioned funk

guatemalan light roast at whole foods is super light and not enough punch but still good when drinking coffee solo

anyone use these coff syrups? i have them and have never tried them, don't want to ruin my coff with cloying flavors.

much better than flavored beans, not as good as just pouring coff down your throat

got a bit low on funds so i bought bustelo instead of my usual stumptown. gotta say, not too bad.

are u supposed to do something different with the proportions bc it's such a fine ground? i just used the normal ratio in my chemex and it was good -- very dark and strong -- but good.

There's a well regarded espresso bar in midtown that opened slightly before the third wave thing - they use their own blend that has 50% robusto and it's very good. Most of the euro and Latin American coffees use at least some robusto.
