police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 29 February 2016 17:57 (ten years ago)

i personally dislike ceramic

flopson, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:10 (ten years ago)

not a fan of plastic coming anywhere near my coffee

marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:11 (ten years ago)

with plastic ur always concerned about w/e leaches out of the plastic at boiling temps

, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:16 (ten years ago)

tru u get stage four cancer after one week iirc

lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)

i read the sweethome article on the auto cof

programmable cof when u wake up sounds p sweet

, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)

plastic also traps old aromas in a way that glass & ceramic don't

marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)

you ever smell like a plastic travel coffee mug? it is a gross stale coffee smell. drip machines smell the same way

marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:18 (ten years ago)

I wouldn't drink coffee out of a plastic travel mug, but it seems like the few minutes it comes in contact with the cone while it's brewing is not enough to impart a noticeable off flavor or aroma to the finished product. I think the problem with the mug is that you smell it while you're drinking, not that off flavors actually seep back out of the plastic into the coffee.

o. nate, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:54 (ten years ago)

flavors cld def get into the cof imo better go ceramic to be safe

lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:02 (ten years ago)

iirc the rancidity index of a plastic travel mug drastically decreases when used by someone who is not a disgusting savage & knows to rinse his shit out on the daily

bernard snowy, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:05 (ten years ago)

i just ambushed you with plastic cup cancer

nomar, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:08 (ten years ago)

You know who has made great reasonably-priced coffee beans forever? Zabar's. My mom brews their coffee chemex and I always look forward to drinking it at my parents' house.

johnny crunch, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 16:56 (ten years ago)

it's actually milk, cream, and flavor, which I am kind of stoked abt bcz I have long lamented the lack of availability of like just flavored dairy creamer, get this bullshit emulsified vegetable oil tf outta my cof

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 19:37 (ten years ago)

The salt in bad coffee trick seems to work pretty well.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 20:29 (ten years ago)

the salt in just about everything trick is p good in general

jason waterfalls (gbx), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 20:40 (ten years ago)

I've tried sprinkling salt on some ILX threads. Ineffective.

Jeff, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:11 (ten years ago)

mr veg was doing the salt thing for a while but he was like, "the thing is, it's still bad coffee"

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:24 (ten years ago)

let's not be hasty

nomar, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:27 (ten years ago)

question: is coffee a self-cleansing liquid?

, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:28 (ten years ago)

no; the seasoned patina optimizes and enhances the coffee flavor.

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:29 (ten years ago)

cf dirtbag style

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:33 (ten years ago)

Califa Farms cold brew concentrate is smooth and tasty if you're the kind of weirdo who doesn't water it down or add milk (like me). I've finally accepted that grocery store cold brew isn't that much more expensive than DIY.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 22:00 (ten years ago)

stevie otm, that's like a well-seasoned cast iron skillet of coffeemaking

μpright mammal (mh), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 22:37 (ten years ago)

I was in a training course today yerman sez at about eleven dyis want to go get a coffee and I'll see ye back here in five mins I sideeyed and sdmdh fool you can't plunge a good cof in less than six

Soon all logins will look like this (darraghmac), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 22:41 (ten years ago)

xp to stevie I've had that creamer before & it *is* good; like, better than it should be? idk, v much into it thoug

bernard snowy, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 00:23 (ten years ago)

ya I want to try the others! The only thing I don't like is that the ratio of flavor and creaminess are locked in, like i can't make it creamier w/o making it sweeter and vice versa

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 2 March 2016 13:13 (ten years ago)

I AM A MILLENNIAL AND I WANT OPTIONS

police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 2 March 2016 13:13 (ten years ago)

haha the lack of options is exactly why I like it! tho my preference on any given day fluctuates between black/cream/cream+sugar/sugar (in descending order of frequency), the fixed ratio of that particular creamer generally hits the spot for my "cream+sugar" preference while giving me one less thing to potentially screw up! (I prefer to pour cream and/or sugar first & then add the coffee -- saves the need for a spoon or stirrer, makes it easier to see how much I'm using, & raises the stakes a bit since I'm stuck with whatever comes out)

bernard snowy, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 14:04 (ten years ago)

bernard snowy that is a #cof #lifehack for the ages!!!!!!!!

Coffee has oils in it that go rancid, hence I favor frequent cleaning.

on entre O.K. on sort K.O. (man alive), Wednesday, 2 March 2016 17:38 (ten years ago)

always clean dirty things

lag∞n, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 17:40 (ten years ago)

not exactly related to cleaning but i've heard it said that bialettis get better with age

flopson, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 18:05 (ten years ago)

every once in a while i attack mine with steel wool for like 20 minutes to see how shiny i can get it

flopson, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 18:05 (ten years ago)

nomar, Wednesday, 2 March 2016 18:08 (ten years ago)
