happy to come over but not sure where you're, uh, localized
I think I've had something called Elixir before, from uhhh, Counter Culture possibly? They have stylish packaging & also sell a blend called Hologram??

I don't think so; it's a local roaster.
"Founded in 2010, We are continually engaged in perfecting the sourcing, roasting, preparation, and delivery of the most delicious coffee we can find. We specialize in lighter roasted unique and exquisite coffees. Our coffees wont taste dark or ashy; instead they favor tea and juice like qualities."

i wanna buy a dripper for work (currently using a single serving size french press) but not one that looks like a piece of laboratory equipment just like white plastic
― flopson, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:25 (ten years ago)
You can get a Hario V60 in white plastic.
― o. nate, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:26 (ten years ago)
recommend white ceramic
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:29 (ten years ago)
ceramic is the way to go
― nomar, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:39 (ten years ago)
I have both ceramic and plastic drippers and have never noticed much difference (other than the plastic is more convenient for travel).
― o. nate, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:42 (ten years ago)
ceramic is just a more baller material
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:48 (ten years ago)
makes a nice *clink* when you gently place it atop your mug
― nomar, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:49 (ten years ago)
tho i guess u cld argue it maintains more consistent brew temp, u cn scald it before hand and itll stay warm and so forth
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 17:49 (ten years ago)
which i do of course

― police patrol felt the smell of smoke and found that goat burns (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 29 February 2016 17:57 (ten years ago)
i personally dislike ceramic
― flopson, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:10 (ten years ago)
not a fan of plastic coming anywhere near my coffee
― marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:11 (ten years ago)
with plastic ur always concerned about w/e leaches out of the plastic at boiling temps
― 龜, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:16 (ten years ago)
tru u get stage four cancer after one week iirc
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)
i read the sweethome article on the auto cof
programmable cof when u wake up sounds p sweet
― 龜, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)
plastic also traps old aromas in a way that glass & ceramic don't
― marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:17 (ten years ago)
you ever smell like a plastic travel coffee mug? it is a gross stale coffee smell. drip machines smell the same way
― marcos, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:18 (ten years ago)
I wouldn't drink coffee out of a plastic travel mug, but it seems like the few minutes it comes in contact with the cone while it's brewing is not enough to impart a noticeable off flavor or aroma to the finished product. I think the problem with the mug is that you smell it while you're drinking, not that off flavors actually seep back out of the plastic into the coffee.
― o. nate, Monday, 29 February 2016 18:54 (ten years ago)
flavors cld def get into the cof imo better go ceramic to be safe
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:02 (ten years ago)
iirc the rancidity index of a plastic travel mug drastically decreases when used by someone who is not a disgusting savage & knows to rinse his shit out on the daily
― bernard snowy, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:05 (ten years ago)
i just ambushed you with plastic cup cancer
― nomar, Monday, 29 February 2016 19:08 (ten years ago)

You know who has made great reasonably-priced coffee beans forever? Zabar's. My mom brews their coffee chemex and I always look forward to drinking it at my parents' house.

The salt in bad coffee trick seems to work pretty well.
― Kiarostami bag (milo z), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 20:29 (ten years ago)
the salt in just about everything trick is p good in general
― jason waterfalls (gbx), Tuesday, 1 March 2016 20:40 (ten years ago)
I've tried sprinkling salt on some ILX threads. Ineffective.
― Jeff, Tuesday, 1 March 2016 21:11 (ten years ago)
mr veg was doing the salt thing for a while but he was like, "the thing is, it's still bad coffee"
