what they really need to do (and are currently fielding plans for) is drill a second tunnel under the bay. and who's gonna pay for that.

BART actually rates pretty well in the USA.

Scratch that, BART rates #1 in fare-based profit across all American municipal transit agencies and a close second to Amtrak.

not arguing with any of that! that they're the least under-funded doesn't obviate the fact that they need more money. every system could use more investment, including BART.

the main problems with BART are:
1. it's too expensive -- it's cheaper to drive from the East Bay to SF than to take BART, except for maybe the 9 to 5 ppl that work downtown (granted there are a lot of them). I don't think I've taken BART in over 2 yrs?
2. it stops running well before bars close.

xpost Oh yeah, right...huh. I think we'll have to wait for late April or May! Pretty much all these weekends coming up I'm either booked for other things or out of town visiting my folks or going to Seattle for EMP.

Now I'm not saying you should all go to the show. (But you should all go to the show.) There had been talk of doing some sort of meetup for dinner or whatever beforehand in the vicinity. Given it'll be a Friday night and etc.etc. we should be careful with our planning but...?
