Sorry Glasgow, slept through possible pintage opportunity. The sudden shock of going to bed before 5am for the first time in 5 days will take its toll tomorrow, I fear.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 01:30 (twenty years ago)

I do hope so

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

Ah, the dickhead conundrum.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

your dickhead tormentor

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

Not so bad, in fact. Although this morning = coldest morning ever. Not pleasant with no heating.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 13:18 (twenty years ago)

How was the panto?

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

It was great. Pantos are brilliant! My dad (nearly 74) has never been to one in his life, and loved it. Crap jokes, ponies, sweeties, singalongs, audience participation, ridiculous costumes, all present and correct.

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 14:54 (twenty years ago)

and now ... it's behind you.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

Ha :)

Pub, tomorrow?

ailsa (ailsa), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

aye!

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

Madchen and I will be there too.

stet (stet), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 21:19 (twenty years ago)

top! 'rah etc. station bar from 7.30ish, then, if anyone else is about. you'll get to meet my mate ciaran, who works for george lucas. and my mate nrom, who doesn't.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 22:34 (twenty years ago)

I will be in the pub too!

Except in Edinburgh, with Alan Ross's wee brother. I will think of you.

KeefW (kmw), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 23:04 (twenty years ago)

al(l)an ross's wee brother! superb. i might have met him once: he was the one who looked a bit like momus, yeh?

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 23:06 (twenty years ago)

Gah, I'm working tomorrow evening. All the same, a merry Christmas everyone, and a prosperous 2006!

scotstvo (scotstvo), Thursday, 29 December 2005 02:42 (twenty years ago)

I'm leaving now-ish, but not staying long, I don't think. People I have to see in Paisley, that I see even less than you lot. I just want to go to the Station Bar and I will be disappointed if it is not teh greatest pub in teh world.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 29 December 2005 18:40 (twenty years ago)

Ally C, are you sure you're managing your profile as successfully as some of your bandmates?

Mooro (Mooro), Thursday, 29 December 2005 22:18 (twenty years ago)

is that bernard sumner on the left?

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 29 December 2005 23:10 (twenty years ago)

Station Bar is teh RAWK! Big roaring fire, unintelligible but jovial barman and Springsteen on the jukebox. All FAPs should be held there from here on in.

My head is telling me I really shouldn't have stayed out drinking in Paisley until after 1 am (hurrah for ridiculous licensing laws!) when I got back though. Ow.

Yet, somehow, I will manage to struggle in this evening for Stevem'n'Alix-related bouze. Someone text me when there is a plan.

(stet, the s1n1st3r archives are knacked, so your secret's safe for now, hem hem, oops)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 December 2005 11:29 (twenty years ago)

i think i'm still drunk. hurrah! which made dealing with this a lot more bearable. jesus wept!

actually, i think that deserves its own thread. hmm.

and please keep me posted about tonight too. i can only do early, but it would be lovely to meet steve and alix.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Friday, 30 December 2005 11:35 (twenty years ago)

"Station Bar is teh RAWK! Big roaring fire, unintelligible but jovial barman and Springsteen on the jukebox. All FAPs should be held there from here on in."

SPRINGSTEEN on the jukebox? Aw man, all FAPs should DEFINITELY be held there from here on in.

stew of the beard, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:58 (twenty years ago)

Bumpity-bump, are people going for beer tonight? I have just received an offer to go ten-pin bowling with a six-year-old girl (and her dad), which shouldn't hinder later pubbage, but it would be nice to know one way or another what plans are. (I'm not going to NPL though)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:46 (twenty years ago)

I am going to NPL! Huzzah! And as Evan Dando is sold out, it looks like Mono for Hogmanay. Rah!

stew!, Friday, 30 December 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

There are still tickets for the post-gig ABC club.

stet (stet), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but Evan Dando/not Evan Dando/Mono etc are tomorrow. What are we doing TONIGHT!?!?!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 December 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

Good question. West End would be ideal.

scotstvo (scotstvo), Friday, 30 December 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

Gah, Glasgow, MAKE ONE DECISION! The window of opportunity for getting a bus is drawing near...

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 30 December 2005 19:43 (twenty years ago)

Three judges, everyone. Come along and bring chocolate!

stet (stet), Friday, 30 December 2005 20:14 (twenty years ago)

No chocolate, but horrid levels of Scampi Fries. Erk. My head may hurt again tomorrow. Who would have thought that mobile phones were such fun?

ailsa (ailsa), Saturday, 31 December 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

Hey, happy New Year, Glasgow folk! Really good to make the acquaintance of some of you this year - one day, I will get to meet jed as well.

Is there farewell-to-steve-and-alix booze at any point tomorrow? I have an appointment with a First Division top of the table clash mid-afternoon, but it would nice for another chance to catch up before you two go away...

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 1 January 2006 17:16 (twenty years ago)

KA20 4xx - life expectancy - 69.8

cozen (Cozen), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 10:33 (twenty years ago)

sorry ailsa, we just milled around the city centre most of Monday until it was time to get the train - nice to see you and everyone else over the weekend though. we had a good time.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 10:45 (twenty years ago)

sorry i didn't see you. "haste ye back", as the big banners at the highland games always say.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 11:18 (twenty years ago)

Hey, I believe Belle and Sebastian are playing some gigs next week. So, might people be going to the pub? I'm going to the gig on Tuesday, and I believe Miss Madchen is too. Can we do some pubbing or eating or both beforehand please? If people are gigging other nights instead, I am, of course, up for pubbing. And if people aren't gigging, can we go to the pub anyway?

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 9 January 2006 22:10 (twenty years ago)

RJG, have you heard Will Oldham's version of 'Thunder Road' yet? & if so, what do you think?

Success or sacrilege?

Mooro (Mooro), Monday, 9 January 2006 22:18 (twenty years ago)

All those women are shorter than Patrick, and two of them are even wearing heels!

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:14 (twenty years ago)

ridiculous

no, DM, I haven't heard WO's TR but I think I did hear about it, though

I will try to download it ASAP

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:28 (twenty years ago)

The WO cover isn't bad at all. He makes the melody much more downbeat and Tortoise add some dubious but dramatic synth. Doesn't have the power of the Boss's version, but it's an interesting take, closer to the the version on the live box set as opposed to the studio original.

Bold & the Brave is a great covers album. The version of Elton John's Daniel steals the show. No shit!

Happy new year to Glasgow ILXORS! Anyone going to Herman Dune on Thurs?

stew!, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 12:48 (twenty years ago)

anyone stay in dundee?

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

not for more than a couple of hours

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 14:44 (twenty years ago)

Top Ten Tourist Destination, apparently. Glasgow, I mean.

Personally, I think this is madness.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller 68), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:06 (twenty years ago)

People are that keen to visit the first FOPP?

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:19 (twenty years ago)

they'd have to be pretty keen

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:23 (twenty years ago)

anyone know anything about shoe making courses in glasgow? jed?

it's not for me

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:36 (twenty years ago)

Loads of old cobblers, mate.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:00 (twenty years ago)

it's not for me

How do you know till you've tried it?

Alba (Alba), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:04 (twenty years ago)

I bought the Strokes' "Is This Is" in the Fopp in Dundee. I was not aware it was the first, merely my first.

Gukbe (lokar), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:55 (twenty years ago)

hm; can't find any information from www.google.com

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

How is Glasgow Dundee, or vice versa? I don't understand (like much of this thread). Why is no-one talking about going to the pub?

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I assumed stevem had mis-spelled FAP.
