it's true, but i appreciate them trying to keep so many balls in the air. it sounds like the S3 mini-arcs will be a nice change of pace.

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

I think it will help a lot.

GILLY'S BAGG'EAR VANCE OF COUPARI (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

this does start tonight, right?

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:16 (nineteen years ago)

It starts tonight.

KOZEN LAHREE, you could just pause the downloaded videos during breaks!

Did I mention I made out w/ KB backstage once?

c('°c) (Leee), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

apparently it's been streaming on MSN.com for a week.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

i could smoke less crack, yes

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:02 (nineteen years ago)

I just finished S1 (I got it for $20 at BestBuy) and it's sooooooooooooooo fuckin good. I just need to figger out a way to watch S2 w/o a computer or spending too much money.

less-than three's Christiane F. (drowned in milk), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:05 (nineteen years ago)

sign up for a Netflix trial and then cancel after you've gotten S2 out of the way.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

i watched the streaming season three episode one a few days ago... if you can ignore the bizarre and unlikely happenstance of all the returning characters deciding to attend the same local college, it's good stuff.

i hate watching them on TV though... one a week! i watched the first two seasons like six or eight episodes at a time.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:43 (nineteen years ago)

Could someone link me to the stream? I can't find it.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

I think it's down now since the show premieres tonight.

milo z (mlp), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

Jerks.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 18:04 (nineteen years ago)

no, it's still up: click

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 18:05 (nineteen years ago)

i like the new remixed theme song.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 18:09 (nineteen years ago)

also, there's a kid in the new episode named donald fagen!

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Tuesday, 3 October 2006 19:23 (nineteen years ago)

Disappointing. Mac sucks.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:06 (nineteen years ago)

What kind of name is Piz? I ask you.

GILLY'S BAGG'EAR VANCE OF COUPARI (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:12 (nineteen years ago)

Not loving the Piz triangle, but whatshisface still makes the VM-Logan lovey-dovey scenes creepy so that's lose-lose unless she dumps/ignores them both.

Generally pretty awesome though. Bell was in fine form.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:28 (nineteen years ago)

I could get on board if they brought back George Michael and Maebe from the Hearst (Hurst?) episode last season.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

the bizarre and unlikely happenstance of all the returning characters deciding to attend the same local college

That's not really so bizarre, depending on where you live.

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:37 (nineteen years ago)

There was this really great billboard of the Veronica Mars actress (Kristen Bell, right?) down the street from me and I actually felt really sad when they took it down. I had grown accustomed to her face.

Cunga (Cunga), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 01:58 (nineteen years ago)

I think those two are coming back for part of the season, Adam.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 02:38 (nineteen years ago)

I am underwhelmed.

polyphonic (polyphonic), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 04:05 (nineteen years ago)

That's not really so bizarre, depending on where you live.

well, the bizarreness is more to do with the characters. wallace makes sense, he got a full scholarship. but for two seasons both veronica and mac both have the "can't wait to graduate and blow this town" attitude, and after all the shit that has happened to logan in neptune, why the hell would he want to go to college there?

that said, i don't really care. logan is a dickweed, but he's great to watch. and mac is v. crushworthy.

fortunate hazel (f. hazel), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 04:10 (nineteen years ago)

Veronica doesn't have the money to go elsewhere - she's living with Pops and attending on a scholarship I think (the attendance woman was pestering her for several eps of last season, no?). Mac was also relatively broke by Neptune standards and she's coming to grips with the Beav thing, but the reasoning there is pretty thin.

I'll forgive a little deus ex machina when the other option is to throw out 90% of the cast and start out with just Veronica and Keith (actually, throw in Wallace and I'd be OK with that).

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 04:17 (nineteen years ago)

Yeah, Veronica, Keith, Wallace - that's your show right there.

The new version of the theme song suuuuuuuuucks.

The Yellow Kid (The Yellow Kid), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 07:40 (nineteen years ago)

I felt underwhelmed for the first 15 minutes, possibly due to the theme song, which is weirdly downbeat. It picked up again, though, and I'm glad to see the show back and it pretty fine form.

Me and my friends all had grand plans of escaping where we're from, but we didn't for a couple years. I don't think it's all that strange. Besides, Veronica's San Diego State money was spent on her mum. I miss the LeBaron.

The Ultimate Conclusion (lokar), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 11:22 (nineteen years ago)

For some reason I am always surprised how net savvy this show feels, through references and whatnot. It is pleasant and makes me wish to hug it and caress it a little as if we are good friends (maybe more!).

Suedey (John Cei Douglas), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 11:34 (nineteen years ago)

The theme song is trying to sound like some wack emo wuss type thing now.

GILLY'S BAGG'EAR VANCE OF COUPARI (Ex Leon), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 12:09 (nineteen years ago)

I did like that the band they went to see was terrible and that Veronica et al acknowledged this, vs going to the Bronze and rocking out to Cibo Matto or whoever.

adam (adam), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 12:30 (nineteen years ago)

Keith got Veronica an SUV? ;_;

The show plugged Top Model? ^_^

Slash vibes between Logan and DICK? 0_o

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

The theme song is trying to sound like some wack emo wuss type thing now.

The Piz is very 'straight from the OC' isn't he?

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 16:17 (nineteen years ago)

Pez needs raping to get rid the world of one more stupid indie haircut.

c('°c) (Leee), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 16:41 (nineteen years ago)

I want this to get better, but I don't think Rob Thomas has any idea what the show is even about anymore.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

Also, it completely lacks any visual flair now. It used to have a gritty noir aesthetic, and now it just looks like Gilmore Girls with more murder or something.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

I never thought it was as noir as advertised - mostly that was the Lily flashbacks and some scenes in Veronica's bedroom (light from the blinds).

Whether the shorter, simpler arcs are good or bad, I dunno - time will tell. If it's dumbed down at all, boo. The biggest mis-step from S1 to 2 was making Wallace less of a featured player, but maybe that's reversing itself.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 17:44 (nineteen years ago)

disappointing

lucky back as teaching assistant

theme tune back as bad version of theme tune

the unsolved rape stuff back as the unsolved rape stuff

logan

no cliff

etc

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:14 (nineteen years ago)

i think both this and gilmore girls referenced battlestar galactica last night as well.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

i still don't really get any of the relationships on this show. I can't tell if logan is good or slimey. who is the blonde guy? when people on here are bad, are they like, REALLY BAD, or just jerky? I obviously haven't been watching it much over the past two years.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

The blonde guy (Dick) is jerky, but has had a few moments where he has been tactlessly sweet (trying to cheer Veronica up once by saying that she's better off with Kendall shagging Logan and Duncan because then Veronica won't have to do anything too dirty). Logan used to be a jerk but then everyone around started dying and now he's not, which I'm worried is the direction Dick is going to go in too. I'm not going to judge this series just yet, introducing new stuff is usually boring unless you're watching it a few years later.

About Veronica being at this college, it wasn't made entirely clear, but I got the impression she traded in her school scholarship (the Kane scholarship? Or was that a different one?) for the chance to see Aaron get found guilty. She's talking a lot about how she needs to pass an exam to stay in the lead in the episode, then she skips the exam to go to the trial. So I'm guessiaccept the one the woman in the jury episode was talking about. And nevermind Neptune, why is Logan even at college at all?

I didn't like the theme tune either, and the credits were only about 4 minutes in. That feels wrong somehow.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 21:02 (nineteen years ago)

My best guess is that Logan's at college to follow Veronica around. I kind of liked the new theme/credits. I dunno about Piz, though. Not really hateable, but rather dull, and this love triangle/slow collapse of Veronica and Logan that they're setting up looks painful. The episode was decent, but nothing amazing. Still like Mac, though, and I hope that Weevil shows up soon, perhaps with Cliff as his lawyer.

I really can't believe that they had Keith buy Veronica an SUV.

clotpoll (Clotpoll), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 21:32 (nineteen years ago)

It's not really an SUV. My brother has one of those Saturns, they're basically a station wagons with a lifted suspension.

milo z (mlp), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 21:55 (nineteen years ago)

I'm putting an early bet in for George Michael being the rapist. Or Logan, it would be cool if he turned out to be actually bloody guilty for something for once, and I'd forgive the writers for turning him into the nice guy this season if he turns out to still be a bastard all along.

Cressida Breem (neruokruokruokne?), Wednesday, 4 October 2006 23:18 (nineteen years ago)

I thought the changes were terrific--it's gonna be way, way darker.

Fucking up the theme is like the signal move--it's like even that assurance of pep has been chopped up.

The first 15 mins did sag with exposition, but that's inevitable, introducing new people, locations, etc.

Since their doing the three mystery arcs, I think some might be thrown by a new rhythm. There isn't as much Veronica and Dad just mucking about--more fioreshadowing of some big badnesses to come.

This one ep packed ALOT into 40 air minutes: the expo, dad's friend's deal, Kendall (maybe) getting shot, Dad getting shot, Dick all bloodied up after doing fuck knows what, about which you KNOW Logan is gonna do something that will screw up him and Veronica. And we haven't even gotten to whatever awful thing happened to Weevil.

I'd say that's some well-stocked entertainment.

Grey, Ian (IanBrooklyn), Thursday, 5 October 2006 03:51 (nineteen years ago)

I thought it was gonna be simpler this year, but I'm confused. What the hell happened with Veronica's dad? Kristin Bell is looking smokin'.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 5 October 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

when other PI picked up keith's case in his office I thought it was quite likely he had dropped a bug and/or tracking device in

yeah not sure what happened in the end though

liam had hired other PI to find kendall/cormac obviously but it is unclear who cormac shot

he said kendall wasn't such a good judge of character: he thinks keith led liam there and then cormac had to shoot liam/he said kendall wasn't such a good judge of character: he shot kendall? suppose the 2nd doesn't really make much sense

weird though

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 5 October 2006 07:43 (nineteen years ago)

I don't even remember who Liam is! Is that the person Kendall was hanging out with in the motor hotel? Why does Keith want to help Kendall anyway?

Hi RJG!

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 5 October 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

She paid him to. That's why he ditched Veronica in New York and bought her a Saturn.

milo z (mlp), Thursday, 5 October 2006 18:02 (nineteen years ago)

I thought Cormac was referring to himself when he said Kendall wasn't such a good judge of character. i.e. she trusted him, he shot her.

Pork Cheops (willpie), Friday, 6 October 2006 00:56 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, I thought that was pretty clear. Cormac took Keith's gun, shot Kendall - but Liam will show up and shoot Cormac/save Keith now?
