Twitter will p much always be good for me but the way i use it (as an RSS feed and for live commentary on sporting events) pretty much guarantees that. if you're really into, idk, content creation or whatever i can see it being more up and down

Plus some people are cool 90% of the time but then an awards show comes on and you have to mute them for a day.

feel bad, a local socially awkward friend who tweets 90% about sports, including local high school sports, was someone I unfollowed. I now happily skim over those since his kidneys are failing and I want to be observant of his life?

this used to be my policy but I have been in way too many "why did you unfollow me" conversations to maintain it

so those conversations actually happen? the few times i've unfollowed someone who follows me back, i've mentally prepared to have to explain myself but it's never come up. and when i've noticed someone i liked has unfollowed me, i'm so crestfallen and ashamed i can't bring myself to ask even though i really do wanna know whether i said something to hurt or offend that i should be aware of or if they just like something i insult on a daily basis like Drake.

i had that conversation with people earlier this year who didn't realize that i'd unfollowed, like, everyone except my bot. brutal.

this is why i never check who's unfollowed me -- i don't really want to know

i never check or notice either bc like there are innumerable reasons ppl might unfollow me, exhaustion, idk they felt like they were following too many people, any of the innumerable not-at-all-personal reasons i've unfollowed people.

many of them take it very personally though which makes me think it really is intended personally

earlier this year the first irl conversation i had with this one music writer involved her asking me "didn't you unfollow me on twitter" and i had but i had totally forgotten why and *it really doesn't matter*

it is p weird if someone you're friends with or have known a long time unfollows you. like i guess if you saw them often it wouldn't happen anyway. only really happened me once, i unfollowed them also - i haven't seen them since and realised i don't see them much - plus my twitter is a p erratic mix of shit - i don't bother streamlining my personal brand - loyal customers only.

yeah someone i have worked with for years and continue to work with unfollowed me this year and i'm like uhhh ok but i don't like value their friendship or anything so it's no biggie
