the most common use of the fav is prob "i acknowledge yr comment"

and if Snapchat is any indication, we're moving away from likes and follows generally, so this new heart is going in the wrong direction.

Also much of the time the favorite button is about conversation-ending, saying "I hear you even if I'm not going to reply." That ain't the same as heart.

people are gonna huff and puff but obviously nothing changes. seems obvious twitter wants to be a little less inscrutable to the uninitiated, their user growth numbers have been awful

If they would just embed Instagram photos instead of posting them as a URL, they would be back in the center of things in no time.

feel like twitters got it all wrong, imo they shd come to grips w the fact that they are a product for power users and shd build it to cater to those users, then concentrate on syndicating/monetizing all that free content thru diff channels

it sux that the end game of success for these companies is ruining their product and turning it into a way for grandparents to annoy their family members

With @Cluster we found hearts made a LOT more sense to users than stars. Stars were used sparingly. Hearts impulsively. Higher engagement.

Basically users thought:
Stars = favorites —> "I only can have a few favorites".
Hearts = likes —> "I can like as many things as I want."

star = you can give out as many as you want (they come on sheets, in stickers)

BUT

w/ added space-age advantage that they can be TAKEN AWAY

hearts pfft you can't like the whole world gotta keep that thing close to you

yes many sins in software are committed under the banner of "increasing engagement"

it'll be generally accepted that product managers ruin everything good by the second half of 2016

Should've seen this coming with the unlimited hearts on Periscope.

feel like you could do better if your goal is just to increase engagement. make a fart button with a dinky lil animation and a sound and that's going to get a good amount of engagement.
