The girl in the second is posed like Peter's sister in the credit sequence of Barbarella.

HOOS, I forget, are you at UT Austin or down in San Marcos?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 06:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Always surprised when Red Buttons shows up in this. And then does a Cagney imo!

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 06:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Yul Brynner finally showed up... In an amazingly ridiculous dream sequence

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 06:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Now the robot Peter Fonda is chasing the real Peter Fonda

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 06:44 (sixteen years ago) link

That's hilarious. The thing about Yul Brynner. And the other thing too.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 06:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Closing scene: real Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner pass themselves off as the robot versions of themselves - successfully talking their way past the Evil Scientist at the airport terminal. Just as they're about to step onto the shuttle to take them away from the *Worlds, the robot Danner (who we thought was killed earlier) shows up - muttering "they're the real ones!" Alarmed, E.S. looks down the hallway to the gates where the real P.F. is looking back. Fonda then flips off E.S. with the most spirited, widescreen, and intent flipping of the bird before running into the airplane. Disgruntled E.S. can do nothing more than pound his fists on the balcony.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 07:04 (sixteen years ago) link

Did it switch to widescreen because the credits were coming like in old days, or was it widescreen all along?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 07:20 (sixteen years ago) link

It was widescreen all the way through

I got drunk and played pool with my friend Jeff. I left about 1 am while he was still ordering drinks. Doesn't sound that boring does it? But he called me this morning after getting out of jail, so...

get bent, Sunday, 30 March 2008 23:52 (sixteen years ago) link

in the spirit of 'i was sad because i had no shoes, until i met a man who had no feet,' spare a thought for burt's old highsol crew next saturday as they politely listen to the brownstone chronicles.

estela, Monday, 31 March 2008 01:03 (sixteen years ago) link

trying to play mario kart against random people in the world when the DVD player spookily turned itself on. they're both on the same scart input so i couldn't see the race. couldn't find tthe DVD remote (who plays DVDs these days anyway) and the player wouldn't turn off on the unit. power and scart connex are behind heavy telly. so sod it. watch PVRd stuff instead (that's on the other scart input)

mm, saturday night

wtf, restaurants in copenhagen close at 10pm, so i spent an hour walking around trying to find something with an open kitchen and ended up at a very mediocre sushi place and ended up spending like $40usd on green tea, miso soup, 4 pieces of sushi, 4 pieces of california roll. UGH.

phil-two, Sunday, 4 May 2008 12:11 (sixteen years ago) link

Talked to best friend on the phone for an hour, got a burrito and fries across the street and watched Madonna's Truth or Dare. Not bad, actually.

Kate, Monday, 5 May 2008 00:50 (sixteen years ago) link

Saturday night: worked an overnight, swapped tubes in my amp, monkeyed with a few new pedals, talked to BigLurks, bed.
Sunday night: grocery store, ate chicken cow mein, read, played GTA, on ilx now. later tonight I'm going to fix a guitar cuz the ground wire...sounds like it's bare or something? Whatever's wrong it's going bzzzzzzz. I kinda wanna wait because the pots are practically toys and I need new ones, but f it I'm bored.

PRETTY AWESOME

My dumb ass agreed to help out at the bar again tonight. No fair asking me at 3am after four rounds of staff Jaegerbombs.

milo z, Sunday, 10 August 2008 00:48 (fifteen years ago) link

dude at least you'll be interacting with people.

gbx, Sunday, 10 August 2008 00:51 (fifteen years ago) link

We moved yesterday and woke up to major drama (huge leak dripping into our flat from the neighbor above who is out of town, bldg mgr out of town, etc etc etc, lock drilled out, problem contained and cleaned up by us, welcome to the building!), so a boring night getting liquored up at home watching dvds would be great. If we could find all the cables and necessary remotes. And, some glasses. But we also are going to the housewarming of friends and will be boring by leaving early.

Jaq, Sunday, 10 August 2008 00:52 (fifteen years ago) link

sushi dinner w/wife's old friend & her husband. they're musicheads (+) and non-drinkers (-).

not in my most social mood tonite, but at least I'll be interacting with adults. so about 6 out of 10.
