I had an interview at Trader Joe's world HQ two weeks ago and it was kinda nuts. Every single person in that office aside from the CEO has a cubicle.. And yes, they wear hawaiian shirts.

would it kill them to make more prepared dishes with fake meat in them? Every goddamn thing is chicken chicken chicken.

and not good chicken, either, always tastes kind of gross. I just pick it out. Sorry, chickens.

Also yeah the kale and cauliflower salad is like eating a chopped up umbrella with some cauliflower and sultanas.

btw I'm completely reversing my recommendation of the mexicali salad...I just bought one and it's definitely changed since I last had one a year or so ago, yuck.

Finally found the Green Dragon sauce to be told that they're going to stop having it. So I hope I like it. But not too much.

I tried the gingerbread latte instant mix and give it two thumbs down. Very odd tasting.

I really want to find an instant latte mix without trans fats that's tasty, this isn't it unfortunately.

dinner last night, all quite good:

steamed chicken soup DUMPLINGS!
Korean-inspired pork shoulder
Asian vegetables with Beijing style soy sauce
Organic jasmine rice

The 2015 Vintage beer from Unibroue has arrived and it's excellent as usual - the biggest bargain in beer.

Unibrow? is that beer that makes you look like John Stamos?

I'd never had a good frozen mac & cheese so I never tried TJs until I was hungover and shopping for dinner today. Holy shit.

I think it was only $2.99? When you factor in milk and butter and time, I think that's even cheaper than Kraft M&C.

any time i hit up tj's (which isn't super often cuz it's not that near by) i end up buying some of that mac n cheese and some of that $3 chicken fried rice, in theory just to have on hand in the freezer when i don't feel like taking the time to cook but that mac n cheese is always gone in like 48 hours

I didn't dig the chicken fried rice the one time I bought it, but a friend suggested replacing their "1 tbsp of oil" with way more ghee or something.

it helps that the chinese food options in this town are fucking pitiful and overpriced

Love those little cheese sandwich crackers. We get them ostensibly for Ivy and I end up eating more of them than she does.

and they're organic, that means healthy

those south african chips are not very good. the ghost pepper ones are fine.

Yeah, like a quarter of the way through the bag. They have a kind of odd texture, too, a little liked baked Lay's or something.

I'm interested. What percentage of the filling is kale? Is it frozen?

I got it from the refrigerated section. It's like 50/50 quinoa and kale, with chunks of sweet potato. Good flavor. The tortilla is spicy.

I did not like the South African potato chips but boy am I a big fan of the turkey and stuffing potato chips.

omg something lol happened yesterday with a TJs product

i was at a potluck and saw a little bowl full of the gummy tummy penguins. a guy i know took one and bit it in half and the smell was so pungent we could all smell it like 3-4 ft away. he was like "what IS this, it tastes like bitter orange peel" and he said something about a bitter orange from Italy, I forget what they're called. then when i told him that they were gummies from TJs he said "maybe you're right" and I was like dood I know I'm right, I have eaten entire bags of these candies gimme some cred and another woman joined our convo and was like yeah she's right those are gummy penguins from TJs

Ha I am rarely inspired to buy based on delicious free sample, but I did pick up TWO packages of chocolate raspberry tamales the other day

Why did I try the Inca Corn? Because now I am addicted to the Inca Corn.
