Yeah issue isn't if they're doing well issue is three-fold rent increase.

How is that even legal?

Οὖτις, Friday, 4 September 2015 02:41 (ten years ago)

No rent control on commercial.

x-post

I see someone did the math in the comments to show that its the rent increase, and not the minimum wage increase for workers that is the main issue

curmudgeon, Friday, 4 September 2015 17:42 (ten years ago)

Wow you read SFGate comments?

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Friday, 4 September 2015 17:47 (ten years ago)

I mean good on you if you found a nugget of wisdom in there, but jeez just glancing at them usually turns my stomach.

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Friday, 4 September 2015 17:48 (ten years ago)

wasn't aware that anyone suggested it was the min wage increase (which is not mentioned in the story)

sfgate comments are a cesspool, just like every other comments box

I would go just for Jamey Johnson but the crowds are SO huge, I was miserable last time I went

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 17 September 2015 15:23 (ten years ago)

I can't really imagine Big Star's Third translating well to a festival crowd performance

Οὖτις, Thursday, 17 September 2015 15:41 (ten years ago)

:( yeah it's crazy now on the weekend days.

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Thursday, 17 September 2015 15:42 (ten years ago)

yeah at first it was a cool thing to do with my family, now it's sort of oppressive - like you have to get there super-early, pick you're one spot/stage, and then never attempt to move until show is over

some marin dad in toe shoes tried to fight me once for stepping on his blanket during lyle lovett while his wife was hitting my joint smh

chaki (kurt schwitterz), Thursday, 17 September 2015 18:00 (ten years ago)

Yeah I've been here since May and settling in as I do. Which amusingly enough has also meant regular writing published at both the Chronicle and the Weekly!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 September 2015 18:01 (ten years ago)

That's awesome. And I would def try to make it to a welcome fap if such a thing occurs

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 17 September 2015 19:26 (ten years ago)

Well we kinda did aim for one in May but that was haphazard. Maybe we should just do a general Zeitgeist thing for the hell of it.

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 17 September 2015 19:47 (ten years ago)

oh hi

i said i was "attending" on fb, but didn't end up going

sarahell, Tuesday, 29 September 2015 18:53 (ten years ago)

Ended up going there thanks to former ILXor Simon Stuart being in town on a trip and wanting to see what was up. And indeed, he saw.

Ned Raggett, Tuesday, 29 September 2015 18:59 (ten years ago)

the poster i saw on fb had jello in a harness

skateboards are the new combover (Dr Morbius), Tuesday, 29 September 2015 18:59 (ten years ago)

I don't do the Folsom St Fair, altho I did go many eons ago

Jello sounds like kind of a creep, based on the stories I hear at Rainbow anyway

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 29 September 2015 19:11 (ten years ago)

Just went by that park where Cesar Chavez hits the 101 and a bunch of nuns were cutting hair for homeless people behind the backstop. One of them was holding a mirror up for a dude in a chair and he was touching his hair looking at it.

where's a good place to live if you need to get Caltrain? got a friend thinking of moving to the city around SOMA/Dogpatch/ Potrero Hill but for me SOMA is the only place I've felt properly nervous walking around alone. Maybe somewhere nearer 24th St Bart?

kinder, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 14:53 (ten years ago)

caltrain isn't anywhere near 24th and BART

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 15:52 (ten years ago)

Potrero Hill is probably best bet

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 15:53 (ten years ago)

The T and N-lines can pretty brutally slow above ground, but anywhere on those lines is a straight shot to the station. That's good for Dogpatch and maybe Duboce/Upper Haight. Anything farther west is probably too far and farther south is probably still a little too unpleasant.

Agree that Potrero is a pretty good bet although it's not exactly super direct unless you are close to the 10.

Basically SOMA is only part of city if you want to walk to Caltrain. It's pretty safe as far as I know.

If you bike to CalTrain you can basically draw a circle around an 3 inches around CalTrain on a muni map and you'll be fine.

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 6 October 2015 16:31 (ten years ago)

Isn't there a 22nd St Caltrain station? I meant around 24th & Bryant area ish but that's still a good half-hour walk to 22nd st station.
Biking would be my recommendation, yeah

kinder, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 20:57 (ten years ago)

Is your friend independently wealthy

polyphonic, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 21:01 (ten years ago)

there is a 22nd Street stop. There is a freeway, giant hospital complex, and hill (Potrero Hill to be specific) between 24th/Bryant and the Caltrain station though. It is not convenient to get to from that side of the freeway.

Οὖτις, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 21:05 (ten years ago)

why doesn't your friend just get an apartment in Belmont or Daly City?

sarahell, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 21:05 (ten years ago)

thanks outic, I haven't been round that bit of town so wondered if that might be the case.
she wants to live in SF (it's not really someone I know well) as OH is working near Palo Alto. I was just wondering about decent places with an OK commute to Caltrain.

sarahell, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 21:18 (ten years ago)

Potrero/Dogpatch is good. There's the soulless world of South Beach condos, but I wouldn't recommend it. I live in Mission Terrace, which is good for a car commute to Palo Alto. My wife does BART to CalTrain, which isn't TOO bad. Mission Terrace/Excelsior are also not quite as bad as the rest of SF, pricing-wise (I mean, still ridiculous, but not as bad).

schwantz, Tuesday, 6 October 2015 21:19 (ten years ago)

agree that South Beach is really weird, as a neighborhood
