what was his answer to "do you think you deserve to be world famous?"

think it was "wi this fuckin accent?"

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 12 August 2015 16:27 (ten years ago)

Whatever the truth about him using his brother's ideas, I find a lot of his brother's own videos/audio unpleasant. Especially interviewing that crying woman on the street, unless it wasn't his brother.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Wednesday, 12 August 2015 17:20 (ten years ago)

S3 ends really, really strongly iirc

imago, Wednesday, 12 August 2015 17:27 (ten years ago)

xp. his brother is a bitter, bigoted (jailed for racist abuse of a journalist online), unfunny arsehole. clearly a fantasist. the idea that limmy stole anything from him is absurd, as evidenced by a) how incredibly unfunny his brother is and b) the sheer length and breadth of original, funny content limmy has created over the last decade or so.

corbyn's gallus (jim in glasgow), Wednesday, 12 August 2015 17:31 (ten years ago)

like his twitter bio used to bemoan the fact that limmy had stolen his name, ignoring the fact that it's incredibly common in the west of scotland for brothers to have the same surname-based nickname at school.

corbyn's gallus (jim in glasgow), Wednesday, 12 August 2015 17:33 (ten years ago)

I've not seen the brothers stuff and I dare say there were a few jokes shared earlier that Limmy made use of but the guys been making comic sketches for about 10-12 years now

Xposts!

Watched one of Limmy's webcam videos. Funny the way he kept saying "place" and then mockingly correcting it to "space".

Good morning America, LIMMY'S SHOW is now on US Netflix!
This is a big hello to America!
I'm from Scotland

sktsh, Tuesday, 15 December 2015 16:38 (ten years ago)

limmy a wee bit of a hard-sell for north americans wi his accent and aw, ive managed to get a couple of people into his stuff though.

the first series of limmy's show doesn't hold up that well, he's said himself it seems a little slow-paced. subsequent series he makes more cuts, sketches are a bit more kinetic.

Karl Rove Knausgård (jim in glasgow), Tuesday, 15 December 2015 17:13 (ten years ago)

Show gets better when he gets better supporting actors in.

ewar woowar (or something), Tuesday, 15 December 2015 17:27 (ten years ago)

aye I would also say I prefer the supporting cast in series 2 and 3

Karl Rove Knausgård (jim in glasgow), Tuesday, 15 December 2015 17:43 (ten years ago)

The supporting players in seasons 2-3 are really amazing. So many sketches would be way less funny without them.

There's a Sky Arts 8min Christmas piece. The parts with his terrified face are the best.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Friday, 25 December 2015 21:54 (ten years ago)

is that online anywhere yet?

Still not on YouTube but I hope Sky Arts sees my request on their other Xmas video.

Just seen his long interview with Richard Herring, the parts about his dad dancing on drugs and societies based on what kind of jokes they could take was hilarious.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Saturday, 13 February 2016 20:47 (ten years ago)

I feel conflicted about everything being turned into Gifs, but his terrified reactions in the Xmas short are really ripe for using on forums as Gifs.

Robert Adam Gilmour, Saturday, 13 February 2016 20:51 (ten years ago)

well annoying it's not on youtube. i've got sky so i could've recorded it too.

anyone go to the limmy live shows last month? bunch of us went up from manchester. verdict: flawed but good, only really for full throttle limmy fans. bit panto in parts, lot of bits fell flat, lot of bits belly-achingly funny. can kinda see that he's not a great live performer but gets by on charm and skill of supporting cast. fair few old sketches rehashed to work live, often falling a bit flat. v expensive for what it was but hey, who'd begrudge him that. pretty sure he's touring the rest of the uk later this year - if you're a fan, go, but don't take people expecting it to convert them. i dunno if i'd spend another 30 odd quid on the manchester gig but i'd like to see how he's developed it. he's known for being meticulous and there's a fair amount of flab that could be trimmed

Malcolm Malcolm of the politics bar is on a roll, particularly enjoyed today's Death of Banterboy arc

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Wednesday, 11 May 2016 23:45 (ten years ago)

listened to a podcast with former scottish football bureaucrat roger mitchell and he sounded exactly like malcolm malcolm

sktsh, Thursday, 12 May 2016 09:57 (ten years ago)

Former Scorrish football bureaucrat surely?

Larry 'Leg' Smith (Tom D.), Thursday, 12 May 2016 10:13 (ten years ago)

I still fire up that Glasgoo N'croplus one quite often to laugh hysterically at the "FULL MEASURE! WITH YOUR frieeeends" bit, a baffling and hilarious signoff for the short-lived dickhead vlogger persona

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Thursday, 12 May 2016 12:20 (ten years ago)

Either the pigeon one or the School of Art are my faves of that genre

he's doing limmy live in London and Manchester. Tickets on sale tomorrow.

I'm not sure about the politics bar. think he just likes doing that transatlantic voice

the unbearable jimmy smits (jim in glasgow), Thursday, 12 May 2016 17:20 (ten years ago)

I find most of these really cunty and hard to watch. I've tried to watch the art school one a couple of times and lasted about a minute each time.

That's fantastic. The compilation of his first 300 vines is the last time I remember really shouting with laughter. 3 years ago maybe?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Tuesday, 6 December 2016 22:15 (nine years ago)

yas

it was three years ago, vine was released in january 2013 and it was that summer that limmy was making vines constantly

still not seen the sky arts xmas thing

harold melvin and the bluetones (jim in vancouver), Tuesday, 6 December 2016 22:18 (nine years ago)

But the scenes of him retreating in terror are classic Limmy
