My partner does a twitter account that is purely about autism. She retweeted something by professor of autism at Cambridge, Simon Baren-Cohen about anti-Semitism and suddenly lost a few dozen of her followers. #big up humanity.

Seems to be less about what the appeal of Twitter is to current users, more about what the perceived appeal would be to new users. Not sure that would get a lot of new users though.
