you can't puke molly out of your bloodstream. this really annoyed me.
But I liked the orgy music. Loved the pulpy final shot. It's so stupid that he drives a charger but it's stupid in an awesome way.

yeah orgy music was great
that was enough coke to kill a horse btw
like sheesh give it i dunno a few seconds to work first
― j., Friday, 31 July 2015 01:38 (ten years ago)
it was a comically large pile of cocaine for one man
― gr8080, Friday, 31 July 2015 14:43 (ten years ago)
he got the "Don Simpson" from his dealer
― difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 31 July 2015 15:24 (ten years ago)
What CD is Ray playing during the cocaine vacuuming scene?
― Brad C., Friday, 31 July 2015 15:26 (ten years ago)
New York Dolls - Human Being
― Number None, Friday, 31 July 2015 15:39 (ten years ago)
i get so distracted by the diagetic use of music that strikes me as hipper than the scene requires. That reminded me of the scene in "Looper" where Richard & Linda Thompson is playing in a massage parlor IN 2044
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 15:59 (ten years ago)
yeah wouldn't ray be listening to staind or?
― j., Friday, 31 July 2015 16:02 (ten years ago)
not saying its IMPOSSIBLE ray's the kind of guy who skips to track 10 of the dolls' second album when he wants to wallow alone in a pile of coke, but it's kind of like when techies lol at the rando html on a computer screen during a "hacking" sequence of a film - the specifics distract me from the intent
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:03 (ten years ago)
maybe he burned himself a "doin' coke" mix
― Number None, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:05 (ten years ago)
the music seemed a little forced, but ray's charger strikes me as one of those highly specific little details (character and otherwise) that made season 1 so much fun.
― ryan, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:09 (ten years ago)
who hasn't?
xpost
― gr8080, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:09 (ten years ago)
the john adams orgy music though was A+
didnt really think its out of the question for a guy like ray to listen to noisy-ass glam rock - or, even more so, to be still using burned CDs in 2014
― extremely lag∞n postings voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:12 (ten years ago)
His kid can't even bear to look at him ever since he found a cd-r with Velcro, Table For One: Mad'n'Sad Jams III written in sharpie on it
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:12 (ten years ago)
hey i just used some burned cds last month
the person i gave them to called them '90s technology'
― j., Friday, 31 July 2015 16:15 (ten years ago)
didnt really think its out of the question for a guy like ray to listen to noisy-ass glam rock
well that's the thing, it's not IMPOSSIBLE, and in the broader sense he's just listening to "noisy-ass glam rock" (like how in movies the hacker is looking at "code"). but if it's not just "noisy-ass glam rock" but a specific song from a specific context to the viewer, it can raise questions it wouldn't if it was just taken as "noisy-ass glam rock".
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:17 (ten years ago)
now see if it had been buckcherry i wouldn't even have blinked
ok i would have lol'd, but for different reasons
they should do a crossover with Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll where Ray is the only guy who shows up at a Heathens record signing
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:18 (ten years ago)
so yr assuming that corrupt ex-cops cant have tastes in music beyond 2000s butt-rock, jeez man #notallbuttrockcops

the cops i know from jersey (not many, to be fair, mostly my cousin's wife and some hometown police my family knows) generally go bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuce and classic rock
that said i'm sure some of the kids from the town i grew up in who became firefighters and cops def have a bunch of godsmack and nickelback cds
― extremely lag∞n postings voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:22 (ten years ago)
*cousin's husband
guy I grew up with who went on to become an LAPD cop was really into Prince and NWA when we were kids
― Οὖτις, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:27 (ten years ago)
i met a cop really into social distortion what the fuck that has to do with a guy playing the last song on the second new york dolls album during a coke binge i don't know but apparently you guys do
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:29 (ten years ago)
what are your feelings about location shots that break up real-life continuity and los angeleses that are in vancouver
― j., Friday, 31 July 2015 16:30 (ten years ago)
maybe we should start a separate thread for cop rock
xp
― Οὖτις, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:30 (ten years ago)
my feelings is y'all a bunch of fucking pussies if you can't handle somebody acknowledging that a hip diagetic music choice distracted them
seriously, that's the harshest word i used. "distracted."
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:31 (ten years ago)
haha i'm merely asking out of intellectual curiosity
i'm cool man
― j., Friday, 31 July 2015 16:31 (ten years ago)
my feeling is that if you know locales and pretending one is another distracts you for a sec that's cool and when you tell fans they should be able to shine it on
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:33 (ten years ago)
what made you think i was "angry" about this i wasnt even being particularly snarky
― extremely lag∞n postings voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:33 (ten years ago)
or "unable to handle it"
Are the New York Dolls particularly "hip," though?
― the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:34 (ten years ago)
I feel like it was implied that she was drugged with something else as well? maybe I imagined that.
― ryan, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:34 (ten years ago)
i acknowledged the music choice wasn't impossible and explained why it distracted me, to which you responded the music choice wasn't "out of the question" as if i hadn't already acknowledged that and "so yr assuming that corrupt ex-cops cant have tastes in music beyond 2000s butt-rock." when someone can't handle the truth you have to assume the truth is hurting them
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:35 (ten years ago)
they ain't square
Just to add a data point here, when one of my ex-bosses used to do coke in the office, his soundtrack of choice was the Clash's Give 'Em Enough Rope.
― the top man in the language department (誤訳侮辱), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:37 (ten years ago)
...it actively "hurts me," sure. ruins m'day. i figured using a ludicrous hashtag at the end of the post made it p clear i wasn't like, mad, this is banter ffs (or so i thought) about a completely non-serious issue
fuhget it though
― extremely lag∞n postings voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:40 (ten years ago)
really don't get all the love for the 1989 Cinemax orgy soundtrack
― let's not get too excited w/ the ouches (forksclovetofu), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:43 (ten years ago)
dolls are a good coke band imo
kiiiinda wish it had been motley crue on with the show with ray lipsyncing & air guitar but i'll save that for my spin off Rad Detective
― difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:44 (ten years ago)
xpost you and yr wooden ears
i'm bantering too, slotpop, mine just turns frustrated when people are responding as if i said something other than what i did
but i'm just gonna say it, "human being" was a pretentious fucking choice of nicky p's. THUMBS DOWN.
― da croupier, Friday, 31 July 2015 16:44 (ten years ago)
kiiiinda wish it had been motley crue on with the show
this would def have made more sense.

― extremely lag∞n postings voice (slothroprhymes), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:51 (ten years ago)
it def felt like a deliberate deep cut, i aint mad about it but i kind of agree with croup
then again just as a song to fill a scene, it conveys the right energy so idk
imagine Ray snorting rails to Fear's Lets Have A War
gah Rad Detective is going to have a loooot of coke montages
― difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 31 July 2015 16:52 (ten years ago)
