No nespresso is really not bad though, like at least two notches above keurig. It's sort of weird because it doesn't taste like any other coffee or espresso exactly, it has its own particular taste.

I was very skeptical re: my mom's nespresso machine, suspecting it would be no better than Keurig. It is quite a bit better than Keurig.

We have a Flavia machine at the office so I decided to treat myself to a little French vanilla and the fucking thing sprayed coffee all over my shirt and the coffee tastes like an ashtray and the name is dumber than hell.

I'm only in the office because I'm supposed to have drinks with coworkers/bosses so THANKS FLAVIA you ASSHOLE I'm going to look like a total dweeb in my coffee shirt.

protip: the Starbucks "flat white" tastes better than Starbucks lattes, because they use a ristretto shot setting on the espresso machine. And you can ask for one iced, although the cashier might be confused at first.

Oh yes, I went to law school across the street from a starbucks so I understand this well. I have a bunch of "hacks."

five six and (man alive), Friday, 24 July 2015 17:48 (ten years ago)

One thing I often found fairly drinkable and satisfying was a "Double Tall Two Pump Mocha" -- i.e. a tall mocha with an extra shot and less chocolate syrup, and of course no whipped cream. I also like the "short" size because you get a better proportion of espresso to milk.

five six and (man alive), Friday, 24 July 2015 17:49 (ten years ago)

I usually just order a tall cappuccino when I go to Starbucks. Last time I was there, I noticed that cappuccino is not even listed on their menu board any more - there's not room for it I guess with all the frappuccino variations.

i'm a recent convert to pour over coffee. got a bodum pour over coffee maker - essentially a chemex but with a reusable filter. A+

Treeship, Monday, 27 July 2015 18:08 (ten years ago)

question about pour over coffee: since the coffee is very slowly dripping down, doesn't it cool off a lot? one reason french press kind of bothers me is that by the time the coffee is done steeping and i pour it into my mug it really is not a hot cup of coffee. w/ my moka pot it is very hot and i pour it directly into my mug rather than some temporary vessel where it sits

marcos, Monday, 27 July 2015 18:24 (ten years ago)

i think the pour over coffee is hotter tbh because it's very hot when i pour it in. (not boiling bc the box said not to but just about)

Treeship, Monday, 27 July 2015 18:42 (ten years ago)

and it doesn't drip thaaaat slowly, really. i think it's about as fast as my mr. coffee.

a (waterface), Monday, 27 July 2015 18:44 (ten years ago)
