i was reading that this morning - he won't go short of a beer this evening if that happens. p tough on him though - £1.1m could make you for a long time, especially if this was a one-off.

Dunne looks like he's headed for 78 or something. Even if he doesn't win, I hope he doesn't have one of these career-defining meltdowns.

The three amateurs up near the top are going to combine for a lot of money regardless. They ought to pass that on to some charity--do all the professionals really need to pocket an extra $50,000 or whatever?

haha - hi-5 returned. i worked my ass off this morning to allow myself to do a particularly easy piece of work for the afternoon. my dad is texting me constantly, he has harrington at 110-1, oosthuizen at 50-1, and dunne at 7/1 to be leading amateur. #gamblor

99 times out of a 100, your dad would have that last one locked up by now. But not today.

Baseball analysts would have had a field day with the announcer there: "Statistically, this distance is not Spieth's strength, but he's such a clutch player, you can throw the stats out the window." And so he misses.

Great try--I think Trevino passed Nicklaus much earlier in the round in '72. Contrary to the announcers, I think the pressure did get to him a little bit near the end, on the one putt and on the approach into 18. I'll root for Leishman now, but my interest has dwindled significantly.

Should have put money on Oosthuizen today.

Most folks I know had money on Oosthuizen. Not sure why - they may well have had money on lots of people.

not the winner i wanted to see but zach is a good guy. actually worked at the last open in st andrews in another, now distant life, interviewed zach johnson and he was v generous with his time for a crappy kids' tv show.

that's cool to know. i'm catching the end of the playoff now and his interview seems sincere and heartfelt. i totally forgot about him as a competitive golfer between his masters win and now but he beat the best in the game today.

gutted for louis but okay with zach winning. i like his old man game, punching most of his shots in, low wedges with hella spin, not much length off the tee.
