you could make the argument that britain is more racist because it hasnt worked through issues and is still insensitive to them, you could make thte argument it is less racist because it has forgotten about them

a fairly big deal was made in the UK of Big Ron's n-bomb, the remarks made about Henry, the black Barca players threatening to leave the field following monkey chants, the recent treatment of Jason Scotland, etc. I think Britain still has a shit load to work through and I don't think as a nation we're insensitive to racist imagery. I just feel that in this case the connection to what is mainly American imagery isn't clear cut and easy to make for some of us - particularly those of us who enjoy footballers being ridiculed as a cultural staple. That may make us ignorant, but not wilfully so.

Actually I don't think the intention of the manufacturer is 100% relevant here. Lots of people make racist comments who would be horrified to be thought of as racist. Mostly because they lack the basic sensitivity to see the racism there in the first place. Did you guys learn nothing from the whole Jade Goody/Shilpa Shetty thing?
