grown or pup?
― Oilyrags, Friday, 22 June 2007 16:21 (nineteen years ago)
grown. 4 years old.
pups run around too much and try to eat your feets while you sleep.
― kingfish, Friday, 22 June 2007 18:18 (nineteen years ago)
dammit, landlord is being a stick in the mud about this, so they took her back with them to Gresham. i have to work on him for a coupla more days, it seems.
― kingfish, Saturday, 23 June 2007 01:32 (eighteen years ago)
i dunno how it is where you are but you don't actually need your landlords permission to have pets here. even if you sign a lease saying "no pets" they still can't do nuthin'. or are you asctually a decent person that cares what your landlord says? if so that's very nice of you.
― The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall, Saturday, 23 June 2007 01:44 (eighteen years ago)
my lease said that i had to get written or emailed permission to have a pet. And my landlord/ex-roommate has done favors and extended certain polite things, so i still keep a good relationship.
but i still want a dog, dammit. MOre work left to do, i guess.
― kingfish, Saturday, 23 June 2007 02:48 (eighteen years ago)
Tho landlord was not actually here to meet the dog, which is what i had set up to do, since i figured it would be far harder for him to say no when he's under attack by hound snouts.
― kingfish, Saturday, 23 June 2007 02:49 (eighteen years ago)
I was going through the park carrying some groceries home yesterday when I saw a woman relaxing on a bench with what appeared to be two guide-dogs-in-training lolling at her feet. As I passed, one of them started wagging its tail and even stood up to let me know how glad it was to see me.
PITTY GUIDE DOG PEOPLE!
This being the internet, I believe the appropriate expression is 'squee.'

― Oilyrags, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 00:32 (eighteen years ago)
seems like a spectacularly bad idea.

You must go & REPORT.
― Abbott, Tuesday, 10 July 2007 00:45 (eighteen years ago)
Okay, went out and visited this today. Place was way the fuck out there in Camas, by a run-down mid-century bowling alley. Most of the dogs were hanging out in their crates under the nearby shade trees, and there were at least 5 blue puppies. Nice people, but heavy on the redneck/chronic obese bit. There was a nice river just down the hill from the bowling alley, so the dogs could flop about in that to cool off. They had a funky little treadmill contraption that the dogs fucking LOVED; they get hooked in this harness and put on the treadmill and race their doggy minds out, having the grandest time.
Almost every other dog had its ears cropped; one puppy still had the stitches.
Conclusion: i still want a dog. I'm debating attending the 2007 Basset Hound Games in one of the far-off exurbs tomorrow. Apparently, 200 basset hounds are nothing to sneeze at.
Pictures to come.

About this:
Have I done too many drugs or does this look like a Viewmaster image with 3 separate photos stuck together? 1. background with truck 2. fat girl 3. black and white photo of a dog
No? Smoke a joint, drink a beer, eat some mushrooms and get back to me. Plus, wear binoculars.
― dean ge, Sunday, 15 July 2007 04:01 (eighteen years ago)
truck was not there today, but stacked cinder blocks with caution tape to denote dog show area was.
girl was there.
ain't you never seen a blue pitty? Here's another, that somebody on the local CL is giving away:

there was a woman at Crate & Barrel today carting around her 11-week old brindle bulldog - if I weren't a macho bro it would have been total 'squee' time. I am now convinced that English Bulldogs are truly the greatest of all things.
Pit bulls and staffies are aight, but they're a good four or five spots down the list (1. English bulldogs 2. Catahoula Leopard Dogs 3. Manx Cats 4. scotch 6. Anatolian Shepherd Dogs 6. pit bulls & staffies)
― milo z, Sunday, 15 July 2007 05:42 (eighteen years ago)
I got a pit RIGHT when King posted. Her name is banjo and i love her and we may need to get rid of her because the girlfriend is having a terrible rash reaction to something (likely dog) that required an emergency room visit today. Left eye is half swoll shut. I'm stressing.
― forksclovetofu, Sunday, 15 July 2007 05:44 (eighteen years ago)
Also: They're ugly (she's gorgeous) ill-tempered (loves everybody) dangerous (she's as soft as a marshmallow) and, I imagine, probably smell quite bad (smells fine! better than most dawgs)

I'm really hoping i don't need to get rid of this dawg. She's a straight pain in the ass sometimes, but I luv her.

OMG Kingfish box of puppies!!!
Banjo looks like a cuddly sweetpile.
― Abbott, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 01:51 (eighteen years ago)
I hope they got a couple of people to turn on Vick and they can actually make this stick. Kiss your $100mn in contracts and endorsements goodbye, asshole.

Man, fuck that guy. One of the Portland Trailblazers was rumored to be involved in dogfighting, and the cops came down on his ass like a ton of bricks.
Okay, found it. here's a press release, when they went after that guy, who was a reserve forward at the time.

― Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 10:30 (eighteen years ago)
grrrrrr. my friend's sweet half-pit was killed yesterday by a vicious neighborhood dog (not a pit).
― lauren, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:34 (eighteen years ago)
I'm very sorry to hear that.
― Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:43 (eighteen years ago)
That's awful. My downstairs neighbour has a scary little Staffy puppy and a 9 month old baby, doesn't strike me as a very sensible combination.
― leigh, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 14:46 (eighteen years ago)
doesn't strike me as a very sensible combination.
RONG
Staffy = nanny dog

guys i just reread this thread and got myself all worked up again! wtf. the white muppet pit puppy is the cuetest thing!
also it is still true that my worst animal scars are from a bulldog and a ferret ;_;

― forksclovetofu, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 16:59 (eighteen years ago)
I can't get into the FUMV thread here at work, but I sure do like the title!
― Oilyrags, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:15 (eighteen years ago)
Any pet + baby is a bad idea if you're not in control of the situation. Even cats can fuck up a baby if they want to.
― milo z, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:35 (eighteen years ago)
heh. I was looking for a pic of a dog with a saddle & baby, and i found this instead:

Doggie saddle bags!
― kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 17:42 (eighteen years ago)
wait--why were you looking for the first thing to begin with?
― the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:15 (eighteen years ago)
b/c the whole thing about "baby" + "dog". And somehow, i figured, somewhere, somebody had set up a way for their kid to ride their big horse of a dog.
such is the way connections in my brain work; like james burke, but drunker.
― kingfish, Wednesday, 18 July 2007 18:43 (eighteen years ago)
no, it's cool, i mean i think it would be an awesome picture and i'd like to see such a thing myself. i only have seen monkeys, and cats riding dogs with a saddle.
