my impt coffee opinions
-- best way to make iced coffee is to use an Aeropress over a glass w/ ice in it. Add milk or water as desired.
-- best coffee rn is Ethiopian bcz it is complex and fruity and tastes like blueberries!!! How fun is that? I bet it wd be SO good cold brewed
-- cold brew takes so much coffee-to-water and is kinda expensif to make :-/

There's an Ethiopian bean at my local roaster that tastes like peaches and is delicious/weird. But sadly ime Ethiopian coffee does not make a good cold brew. also, I have often purchased Stumptown cold brew in a bottle from gas stations in Oregon and it's not bad but definitely doesn't transcend the category of cold brew in a bottle available at the gas station

I made Japanese iced coffee for the first time w/ a borrowed Chemex and holy shit it was delicious. Immediately ordered one of the glass-handled Chemexes from Amazon because the wooden collar is kind of a PITA.
My espresso experiment has kind of stalled, I seemed to be absolutely hopeless at getting a decent pour so I guess I'm shitty at tamping. Will revisit when it's not 100F every day.

― WE WANT FET WAP (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)

― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)
no i mean they are wonderful and handy but idk how it could possibly be different than a pourover

official chemex filters are thicker is my understanding letting fewer oils pass through making a cleaner bup which some ppl like, also theyre glass instead of plastic, tho u can get ceramic pour over cones (i have that), also u cn get a big chemex and use it as a carafe for multiple cups

Stevie a lot of central African coffees have similar characteristics you're getting from the Ethiopian coffee, so definitely dig into Kenyan coffees. And there are so many great Ethiopian coffees out there, though finding something fantastic is as dependent on roaster as origin. For US roasters I'm super impressed with Heart and Blueprint at the moment, and Intelligentsia's quality control and consistency are fantastic.
― controversial but fabulous (I DIED), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 22:43 (eleven years ago)
Origin mania is silly marketing bullshit. There are two species of beans. They should be well-grown, well-harvested, and well-roasted.
