We take the TJ's coffee concentrate on camping trips. I'm not sure it's defined as iced coffee though, is it? We've always heated it up on the stove and diluted (per instructions) with water.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 15:39 (eleven years ago)
has anyone had this, looks super-concentrated but reminds me of lol ilxhttp://www.gradyscoldbrew.com/

I wonder if they just take some cafe du monde knockoff coffee and cold brew it really strong and bottle it for suckers
― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 15:41 (eleven years ago)
well if they do the they've suckered me because I fucking love grady's
― Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 15:43 (eleven years ago)
stumptown is good too but imo grady's is better
it's really $$ so I don't get it often but it's delicious
― Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 15:44 (eleven years ago)
xpost Sounds more like a knockoff of a chicory cold coffee Blue Bottle sells.
My dad used to drink chicory coffee. Was never really my thing.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 15:46 (eleven years ago)
maybe blue bottle ripped gradys off... as far as the idea of putting the ancient recipe of hickory coffee into a bottle lol
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:17 (eleven years ago)
lol like blue bottle is inventing anything
― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:18 (eleven years ago)
Yeah who knows. Point being, lots of people seem to be doing cold chicory coffee and bottles.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:19 (eleven years ago)
asian groceries usually have cafe du monde because it's very popular for vietnamese iced coffee iirc
― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:24 (eleven years ago)

omg dark roast is so out of style mortified 4 u
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:26 (eleven years ago)
we have a couple 90s-style coffee shops around, very much the vibe of coffee shops of that era as far as setup and art on the walls and occasional lesbian folk singers playing. I should buy beans from the one that roasts beans.
― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 16:27 (eleven years ago)
dark roast always bad buy medium roast or just chew on green coffee beans
just grow a coffee tree inside yr blood imo

my impt coffee opinions
-- best way to make iced coffee is to use an Aeropress over a glass w/ ice in it. Add milk or water as desired.
-- best coffee rn is Ethiopian bcz it is complex and fruity and tastes like blueberries!!! How fun is that? I bet it wd be SO good cold brewed
-- cold brew takes so much coffee-to-water and is kinda expensif to make :-/

There's an Ethiopian bean at my local roaster that tastes like peaches and is delicious/weird. But sadly ime Ethiopian coffee does not make a good cold brew. also, I have often purchased Stumptown cold brew in a bottle from gas stations in Oregon and it's not bad but definitely doesn't transcend the category of cold brew in a bottle available at the gas station
― rob, Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:06 (eleven years ago)
I made Japanese iced coffee for the first time w/ a borrowed Chemex and holy shit it was delicious. Immediately ordered one of the glass-handled Chemexes from Amazon because the wooden collar is kind of a PITA.
My espresso experiment has kind of stalled, I seemed to be absolutely hopeless at getting a decent pour so I guess I'm shitty at tamping. Will revisit when it's not 100F every day.

is a Chemex not just a v nicely sculpted all-in-1 pourover?
― WE WANT FET WAP (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)
just try telling that to the chemex faithful
― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:16 (eleven years ago)
no i mean they are wonderful and handy but idk how it could possibly be different than a pourover
― WE WANT FET WAP (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:17 (eleven years ago)
I recently asked the same thing.
― Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:20 (eleven years ago)

― Upright Mammal (mh), Tuesday, 30 June 2015 18:36 (eleven years ago)

official chemex filters are thicker is my understanding letting fewer oils pass through making a cleaner bup which some ppl like, also theyre glass instead of plastic, tho u can get ceramic pour over cones (i have that), also u cn get a big chemex and use it as a carafe for multiple cups
